Lilu starts to bark a little to much during playtime. I want to continue playing with her, but I have to stop because she gets into a barking fit. I want to break this habit early, so whats the best way to train a dog to only bark/howl on command?

When they start to bark, say "SPEAK!" loud and exciting. When she keeps carrying on, say "Good girl!! Good speak". Then stop playing and let her calm down and stop barking. As soon as she calms down and is nice and quiet, tell her she is a good girl. Do that every time you play.

Personally though, I like the barking/howling . It usually tones down as they get older..but I still let them be dogs. It is still good to teach her to speak on command though.

Does she howl back at you if you howl at her??

She hasn't gotten her howl yet only bark. She is only 9 weeks old.
