Potty Training question!! Empty
PostSubject: Potty Training question!!   Potty Training question!! EmptyMon Apr 29, 2013 12:15 pm

So diesel pretty well has the potty training down, but i'm not sure how to teach him to bark or make some kind of noise to let me know he needs to go out. He just goes and sits by the door. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how i can teach him to make noise when he needs to go out!!

Why do you need him to make a noise? He is giving you his cue to let you know he has to go. If you really want him to make a noise, you would first have to teach a "speak" command. Then you would have to have him "speak" every time you go to go outside. You could also bell train him. I haven't ever done it, but I know quiet a few people have their dogs bell trained..hopefully they can jump in and give some pointers!

i have blu bell trained, and it works wonders (although now whenever he needs to go he sits in front of the door and starts howling -_-).

to bell train him this is what i do, everytime i would take him outside to go potty i would grab the bell and say "blu, bell." and after the first 5 or 6 times he started ringin it himself, and when he rang it himself i'd give him praise and we would go potty.

im sure there's an easier way to train your pup to do it but this is the way my aunt showed me to do it and he picked it up rather quickly.
