Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

New Husky Owner Saying Hi Empty
PostSubject: New Husky Owner Saying Hi   New Husky Owner Saying Hi EmptySun Apr 07, 2013 10:33 pm

Hi everyone, I'm Joe. I'm 22 years old living in NJ. My dad had 2 Huskies when he was younger, until right before I was born. I saw pictures of them when I was little, and since always wanted one! I had 2 10 year old sister yellow labs, and a jack russell/pitbull mix. There's also my family dog who lives with my parents, a German Shepard Beagle mix, who comes to visit from time to time. Well 3 weeks ago the one lab unfortunately passed away. Shed certainly declined in the past year. She was always overweight and had a lot of tumors so we believe she may have had some kind of cancer. A week after her passing, not having the 3rd dog got lonely, so I decided it was time for my dream dog. I began looking on petfinder, and craigslist every hour to find the right dog. I found one, who was in a foster home here in NJ. So I filled out the application as perfectly as I could. I didnt hear back after 2-3 days, so i sent an email. No answer. Sent another, still no answer. At this point I'd kind of given up on that place, and made a craigslist ad as a backup while I searched. From the ad, a woman got in touch with me, and was giving me tip offs on other Huskies on both CL and Petfinder. She found Blizzard, a 1 year old Husky out of PA. I emailed the owner, and she called me back immediately. So we spoke about it, and I told her I would take him. This was last Tuesday. Thursday came, i called her to confirm, things were set to go for me to pick him up on Friday. Friday morning comes, and of course I'm psyched. Well the woman calls me last minute to tell me she decided she just can't give him up. I didn't even bother to call her back. I understand not being able to, but dont call me an hour before I'm about to leave to get the dog I'm SO excited about. I remembered seeing another Husky on CL in Coney Island, NY. So I called the guy, and Shadow, was still available. My buddy and I took a ride out to meet him, and I was instantly in love. I could tell that he was a good, well behaved dog. So I decided I would adopt him. Personally I dont think his past owner was taking the greatest care of him, and I obviously didn't want him to wind up in a worse situation. Therefore, I adopted Shadow. He is 2 years old and a beautiful ball of energy. Here are some pics:
First, are 2 pics of my dad's Husky King:
