| So we started Nanook on raw on wed. He's done "fine" so far in regards to actually eating. He did have a pretty nasty accident Friday in his crate. What's worrying me the most though is it's been a while since he's had a "decent" sized BM. He goes, but it's only a tiny amount that's runny. He's urinating fine (more frequently which I'm assuming is due to the higher water content of his food). After he goes his little bit he'll move somewhere else and attempt to go again but is unable to. I started him out the first couple of days on Chicken Backs and the last two days he's been getting Chicken Quarters. I'm worried he's blocked (but he is able to go so maybe this isn't a valid concern?). I've been considering taking him to the vet. Am I over-reacting or should I go ahead and take him in? Aside from the inability to pass he's acting normal. |

| Backs are very bone heavy, and quarters are very decently bony as well... He probably needs more muscle meat. I feed about 50-60% quarters and 40-50% meaty meat and its usually a good formula for my dogs and consistent stool. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Chicken backs and leg quarters have lots of bones in it. Feeding bone adds bulk to poop, and feeding too much of it causes constipation.
I suggest you feed more meaty meals, and less bone. 10% of bone fed over time (80% meat, 10% organs) would be ideal. |
