PostSubject: How to make her best friend situation work   How to make her best friend situation work EmptySun Apr 07, 2013 1:24 pm

Okay so Ill be getting a 7/8 week old husky mix in about 5 weeks. Kaiya, a female. Anyways we are new to the naibourhood but our next door naibour seams pretty cool and has a female labs thats loose all the time and never goes on the road or off property. She will come on mine when he comes over and he sais she will come over once she knows its okay when i call her too. Anyways.. i know huskies arnt exactly known for a good recall so i am wondering how i cant make them being friends work. aparently the other dog loves everyone and every dog and he said they can play together (i know mine may not end up liking her but i want to set up up so if she does they can play and she would have a close regular friend. i will be doign puppy socialization class too but still. So his yard and mine both have no fence.. i had been thinking underground fence maybe.. or make the bf put up a real (8ft) one .. i havent decided yet, but i want them to be able to get to each other. (supervised ). ideas?

if i use underground when naibour dog leaves it will cuase problems i think.. and if i use fence fence then naibour dog wont be able to get here.. either that or i would have to ask (if they are home which isnt too often) or kidnap her (lol)...ughh

I personally would not use just an underground fence with a husky. They tend to have a high prey drive and might go right through the zap zone. If it were me, I'd build a fence and put a gate in a position where you could invite the neighbor dog in to play.

What Sarah said. They probably need to be supervised while playing for a while anyways.
