Hello! We just rescued a 11 month old female Husky yesterday. Her previous owner couldn't afford to feed her so she is very underweight I haven't weighed er yet but I'd guess she is probably 20-25 pounds she is a total love bug ad made herself right at home last night, sleeping at the foot if my bed and coming up to luck my face a few times thru out the night, I think it was her way of saying thanks for saving me. She has a grey Dane brother as sugar they get along good, she isn't wanting to eat dog food right now at least the one we feed our Dane so I may try something else just to intrigue her to eat! I'm not sure how to post pictures but once I figure it out ill post some! She is black and white with pretty brown eyes oh and her name right now is Sasha but I'm thinking if changing it to Juno, se needs a me name for her new start in life

Congrats! Thanks for rescuing her. We have 2 rescued dogs and 4 rescued cats. Dogs usually prefer raw meat over kibble, so you might want to research a raw diet just to help fatten her up and then switch back to kibble if you can't continue the raw diet. Or find some higher end, grain-free kibbles that have higher protein/meat contents that she might enjoy the flavor better than what you're feeding your Dane. We rescued our wolf dog, and he was beaten, abused and starved and would roll on his back and pee all over himself everytime I approached when he was 14 weeks old. I fattened him up by giving him extra food per meal and he filled out nicely and is over most of his issues now. Good luck! And there are threads in the photo section that explain how to post pics. Thank you for the reply! We feed her a grain free high quality food that's what we feed our Dane she is coming around and eating a but here and there which is good I will go check out how to post pictures right now

She is Very pretty dog.. welcome..

She looks to be a good size to me. Remember huskies are very lean dogs, as long as they have a nice hourglass shape and there hip bones dont stick out they should be fine. The general rule is if you can feel their ribs, but not see them they are good weight. Our female who is a little on the small size is about 16 kgs at 9 months.

So we are working on slowly adding weight to her. She went for a walk today and was a gem on the leash and was so happy outside her tail was wagging no stop!

Just a note: I personally found it impossible to switch back to a kibble (even a great one) after feeding raw diet. My dogs cannot keep it down anymore. Just my experience!

We went from kibble to raw back to kibble back to raw without any issues, other than you could see on their faces how sad they were to go back to kibble. They've been on 100% raw now for a few years and love it, to the point where they literally jump up and down and pogo on their hind legs everytime I approach with their bowls. Of course, they have to sit and be calm to earn their reward, but when I switched back to kibble, they smelled it and walked away, then only ate out of hunger. It was like they were boycotting kibble. Haha! It drove the message home, and I'll never feed kibble again unless it's a last resort (financially or whatever).

She is dong good so far! Actually running and jumping and playing with Jaeger and last night the curled up and slept together its so nice! I can't do the raw diet. I don't eat meat and I'm also pregnant so right now the sight of meat has me heading for the bathroom! We feed natures domain grain free turkey from Costco our Dane is picky and that's the only food he will eat and it keeps weight on him . We are transitioning to calling her Juno, we decided to stick with the J names with the dogs lol

We're pretty much vegan (99%), but I'm ok with giving them the raw meat. However, it grosses my wife out and she won't handle all of the blood and guts (organ meats)! Haha. I have no problem, as I want them to be as healthy as possible, and I understand in the wild this is how they'd eat. My personal, animal rights, and vegetarian mindset doesn't come in to play when dealing with my pups. But I can relate to what you're talking about. One time I had a 40lb box of chicken necks, and I reached in to pull out a neck, and it still had the full head attached: eyes, beak and everything. I couldn't look at it and just threw it away. Made me feel sick to my stomach. O well, just something that comes with the territory methinks.

Bottom line: do what you gotta do, and do what feels right. It doesn't matter what anyone else does.

My flatmate has a 3 month alsation pup, he had been feeding her kibble, but after some research has decided to go raw. We have given her chicken necks/frames at the moment and she loves it. The dry food sits ignored in the bowl. Since she arrived she has had a scratching issue, and so we are trying the raw diet to hopefully alleviate that. It has become better after just a week of added raw food in her diet.
