2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Acting up in new surroundings. Empty
PostSubject: Acting up in new surroundings.   Acting up in new surroundings. EmptyThu Mar 28, 2013 3:31 am

Hey Everyone,

I live in Chicago and I came home for a week to visit my parents in Michigan. My 10 month old Husky, Royce, has accompanied me for his 2nd time to my parents house. The first time, he stayed here for about a day, before he pretty much spent the rest of the time at my wife's mom's house (which is a completely different horror story). Anyways, there is another dog here and he is 5 years old. He was my first dog and my parent's took responsibility of him once I moved. The 5 year old dog is very nice and he moves a bit slow, but he usually sleeps all day and will go for the occasional walk. The day that Royce was here, they sniffed each other and Royce, trying to be playful would pounce and jump up and down, trying to get the other dog to play, but the other dog wasn't having it. If Royce continued to do it, the other dog (his name is Troy. Don't know why it took me this long to say it.) would snap at him and growl, which would freak Royce out and for a few minutes, Royce would leave him alone. Anyways, he would traverse throughout the entire house, panting, as though he was beyond exhausted, and wouldn't listen to a single word I'd said, but when night came around, he went into my room, jumped up on the bed and fell asleep, no problem. I was surprised as well, but he didn't have any accidents, which we thought he would, since he was in a new place.
Cut to today, about 3-4 months later. Troy sees me and casually walks over to me, wagging his tail, because we hadn't seen each other in awhile, but immediately before I could reach down to pet him, Royce charged through like a speeding bullet and almost knocked him over. I was assuming that was him trying to protect me, but then throughout the rest of the day, Royce would not leave Troy alone. Literally. If Troy left the room and Royce didn't notice, Royce would immediately stop what he was doing and jump and (playfully) bite at him. It was obvious that Troy was getting really tired of it. A few hours later, Royce continued to pant like crazy. He literally hasn't stopped panting from 3 pm to even right now, as I'm laying in my bed typing this. I'm really worried that Royce will be an annoyance, and I won't have a decent/fun weekend, because I'll constantly have to be worrying about Royce. I'm going to be here for an entire week and I'm worried that I'll have to leave early, since my parent's won't be able to stand Royce's antics. Is this something that will stop soon, or am I pretty much doomed?
