| So Selena goes to the vet next weekend to get weighed to see if she falls over the 25 pound mark so I can buy her next dose of Frontline and Heartgard but I hate to buy it at the vet because its $15 for ONE Heartgard chewy. Wondering where everyone else buys it from, if they don't purchase it from their vet??? Sorry if this has already been posted, I tried to find something on it. |

| I use Frontline and buy that in store (Target carries it) or online without a prescription, but I have to get the heartworm meds from the vet because it requires a prescription. My vet refuses to give an rx to order elsewhere, but because I raised a stink about it, they will do a price match if I bring in proof of cheaper price. |

| You can try to ask your vet for a written prescription and try to buy online, but a lot of vets aren't too keen on that . It doesn't hurt to try though!! As for flea/tick preventative, you can buy that most anywhere. Online, in stores.. If you go online though, I really wouldn't go through ebay or something like that because you have no idea if the seller has tampered with them at all. |

| I use ivomec, but I have ordered on Amazon or picked it up in Canada before (I'm 30 minutes away).
You could also shop around at other vets or use a 2 in 1, like revolution. |

| We use revolution. It is quite expensive by my Vet sold us a 12 month supply for the price of 9 months. It is a combo of heartworm and flea & Tick. |

| Thanks guys! Since my vet said they will give me the prescription for the Heartgard I think I am going to use 1800 Pet Meds online. I should probably wait to buy a large pack incase she gets over 50 pounds though |

| I'm about to have to buy a new round of Heartguard for Darwin, but have to do the monthly purchase for Watson since he's still growing.
Though I never realized this, but I was asking my vet too about buying offline to get the heartguard cheaper. The company that makes Heartguard, will pay for your dogs heartworm treatment if the dog was to come down with heartworms by any chance while on Heartguard, but they will only pay for the treatment if you buy heartguard from your vet. By using an online Rx, that option becomes voided. Just an idea to keep in mind, if mosquitos are an issue in the area.
Though I would check around at local vets in town. I know we have a spay/neuter clinic that does things much cheaper in town, and they also sell pet meds at a much lower rate than our regular vet does. |

You could also shop around at other vets or use a 2 in 1, like revolution. So Ivomec can prevent fleas and ticks? |

| We get Frontline from Costco, around $30 for three doses. Heartworm meds we get from the vet, but we get Iverhart which is a generic for around $8 a dose |

Revolution doesn't prevent ticks. The only topicals that are know to prevent ticks are Advantix and Frontline Plus. There are on heartworm/tick preventatives out yet, unfortunately. If you live in a tick endemic area, I'd look into a separate product for ticks. Revolution prevents fleas, earmites, heartworm, roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. |

| Preventic collars work amazingly. We use comfortis for fleas, Ivomec for heartworm, and preventic collars for ticks. We buy ours at vetdepot.com and they're so cheap and last 3 months. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?!
