So Megan(mheath0429) and I decided that the Midwest needs to meet up! We'd like to invite you guys to join us at the 2013 Illinois Husky Camp! It'll be May 3rd-May 5th in Utica, Illinois at Hickory Hollow Campground. Megan already talked with them and they said we are more then welcome!

First off this first post is for us to get an estimate of how many people are going to be joining us!
There are only four cabins on the campground that allow dogs. Two cabins hold 4 people, and Two hold 6 people. The 4 person cabin is $50 a night and the 6 person cabin is $60 a night and you'll need to bring your own bedding.. A tent site is 1 tent and up to 4 people and $25 or if you have an RV price will range $35-$37 depending on the hook ups you need. There are hotels in the area, but I still need to get a list together and find out which are pet friendly.

In order to make a deposit formally with the camp ground it will be a $5 booking fee along with the first nights fee. We will prompt you to send your money once we get the first four cabins booked and talk with the campground it will most likely be via paypal to one of us and then we will book everything for the first night.

Some of you may choose to bunk together. My friend Angel and I will be bunking with Megan and Chris to have an extra cabin open. Cabins will be on a first come, first serve basis. If you guys are interested in coming please PM me or Megan the following info...

I am definitely interest but I can't commit just yet. I have a few thins I need to purchase so I will need to see if I can budget this in.

That sounds very cool! And I am only 2 hours away from there so that would work out well for me! I think I would be interested but only if there is a cabin available. I don’t think I would want to use a tent in early May lol!

I just looked this campground up. That's next to Starved Rock. I have never been but have heard how beautiful it is there.

Did you call and ask about a dog limit per cabin?

Also as far activities, Megan and I chose this place because they are super close to a few state parks that we can take the dogs to, but we can drink at the campground, but we couldn't at a state park
Here are a few of the things I hope we can do:

Starved Rock State Park
Matthiessen State Park
Scenic Illinois River
Vermillion River rafting(potentially, probably would be difficult with all the dogs)
Also, Historic Downtown Utica. Maybe do a lunch or something if there's a restaurant that has outdoor seating..

Alright, I called - that many huskies should be perfectly fine. However, we are still waiting to hear back from the owner. Will let you all know!

Well as it stands right now, all four cabins are taken. I still don't know who is getting a 4 person or a 6 person cabin. If you have a preference PLEASE let me know. Otherwise we'll just do whatever is easiest.

Melissa is willing to share her cabin if someone does want to share. Please PM either me or her and we can get this rolling

For anyone interested, there's a Days Inn near the campsite that accepts dogs. I will be calling them either tomorrow or Monday to get a dog limit per room and estimates for price.

Possibly interested if yes there would be 2 adults, a kid and 2 dogs (husky and a miniature schnauzer).

If you are planning on calling and reserving a room, PLEASE make sure you let them know you will have dogs with you. You don't want to show up there and them decide to not allow the dogs.

Well, I know now that I will not be able to come up for the whole weekend but I am still going to try and drive up on that Saturday and hopefully do a hike with you all. I live almost two hours away so it won't be a big deal to come up for the day.
