Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | I woke up this morning and realized how long it had been since I had updated everyone on Mishka and I figured since it had been so long, and I have so many topics to touch on that General would be better than her scrapbook. At just about 3 and a half months, Mishka is doing wonderfully. She has totally stolen my heart. Her temperament is awesome. I am quickly learning just what "husky attitude" means. I mean come on, its not everyday that a dog talks back at you for telling them no. On the socialization standpoint things are going well. She's made some best friends with my best friend's 2 dogs and loves the dogs in the complex. We have 2 huskies in the apartment right above us. We're biting at the bit for her to get bigger so they can play together! Raw feeding has been a great choice. It's been difficult finding the right balance of bone for her, but I think we're getting there. So far she's had chicken, duck, beef and rabbit. She wasn't so found of the rabbit though. I know I've mentioned before that Mishka is being trained to be my psychiatric service dog to help with my PTSD. Let me say, this is going absolutely amazing! She is constantly in tune with my anxiety. She flawlessly wakes me up from nightmares now. She sleeps at the head of the bed between my pillow and the wall, so I wake her when I start to have a nightmare. She licks and paws at me until I wake up. We had been working on deep pressure therapy for less than a week when I had a big panic attack. See, when I have a bad attack I go into the fetal position on the ground and can't move. She went right to work without me even giving her a cue. I was amazed! Then out of the blue she starts pulling my hair, like hard. I realized a few minutes later when I came through that the hair pulling was another tactile stimulation, like licking. The licking wasn't enough to help, so she literally "pulled" me out of it. The pain of her pulling my hair was enough to pull me out of my flashbacks. I was so proud. Now we just have to focus in on her not puppy biting and making sure she doesn't jump up on people. She'll be wearing her vest in no time! Here's some pics too. Thought I'd brighten your day! (The two with the shoe were taken while I was writing this post. Don't worry thats HER shoe) |
