Ok, so Luna has never been a "jumper". She jumps on the couch and the recliner when she gets super super excited, but she won't ever jump up on something when we actually want her to. For example, if we want her to jump up on the bed or jump in the car, she just puts her front feet up and waits for us to pick her up. Does anyone else's baby do this? I can't figure it out. It's kind of funny watching her put her front paws up and look at us like "Well....aren't you gonna help me?"

Lucian is notorious for this. He doesn't like to be picked up, but he won't jump in my truck. It's only a little S-10 too. He'll put his front feet on the seat, and wait for me to lift him the rest of the way. Lol. He won't jump out either. He'll sit there and whimper, not wanting to be picked up, or jump out. It's funny, but annoying at times when I have to grab his harness to get him out of the truck. He doesn't really jump on my furniture either. He's not supposed to, but he'll climb up there when he thinks no one is watching. I'm considering it a good thing, he more than likely won't try and jump the fence either.

I'm hoping he never figures out how to jump things, lol. I gate him in my kitchen when we aren't home, and usually at night. Although he's usually good when left to wander around I don't want him jumping that gate. Mostly so my cats can keep away from him if need be. He only tries to play with my calico. My black and one white one hates him, lol. He knows to keep his distance. But I still like them separated when I'm not home. That and even though most of my fence in the yard is 6 foot, there is a section that is only 4 foot, and I don't want him jumping that. I'd have a heart attack if he got out!

My male Loki is similar, He will get on the couch but is really lazy about it and only recently will he get on the bed but whats funny is when he is up there and he wants down he takes a really long time to get down and whines the whole time. Getting him in the car can be a bit of a chore, he will do it himself but it's almost like he is lazy about it. He tends to crawl up into the car or on the couch as opposed to jump. when he was a baby he really didn't like stairs either, which we have leading up to our porch and we have two stories two our house. Kiska we can't keep from upstairs Loki you can't drag him up there. I picked him up one day and put him half way up, he freaked out like he didn't know how to go down and didn't want to go up, but he will go up and down the stairs on our porch just fine. I'm glad he isn't a jumper, we put a baby gate in our bedroom doorway at night since both dogs are house broken, they either sleep on the floor, in their crate or in Kiska's case the foot of the bed, but when Kiska hears one of the cats moving around she tends to go jump the gate to check it out. Loki dosn't do that. We just finished their yard for them and the fence is 6' sometimes I'm afraid Kiska will figure out how to jump it but i'm pretty sure loki will dig under before he even attempts going over.

Lucky bastards... From day one, my dogs are encouraged to jump, and jump high. Soshanna is part tigger, and tiggers are wonderful things, becauze their tops are made out of rubber and their bottoms are made from springs. She can jump over my head, and over any of the 6ft fences at work. She knows the fences are boundaries and not to cross without permission, though, so its really a non-issue.

That's what I was thinking Yuki has started this annoying habit when I'm sitting in my recliner chair and I look over and see her sitting right by the chair and I just know its gonna happen. And then all of a sudden she springs onto me and lays all over me and my laptop. Freaking nutball. |

Lucian was horrible with stairs when he was little! I have 3 steps that he must go down in order to go outside. I had to carry him for a good two weeks or more when we got him. He would not go down the stairs. I even tried piling treats, and toys on the stairs and at the bottom, still no go. He was very stubborn about it. Even going up them, I had to put my hand behind his butt, so he knew someone would catch him if he fell. When I finally got him to go down the stairs, you would have to put your hand on his side, or he'd stand at the top of the stairs looking at you, lol. He's such a big baby. |

Lola thinks its fun to jump over the back of the couch onto the cushions. No running start required. The back is 38 inches.

See, apparently Luna's dad was a jumper because the breeder told us of several occasions that the dad jumped out of his kennel! Luna didn't get any of that from her dad! Ha ha! She does the same thing about getting off the bed. She will stand at the very edge of the bed and crouch down on her front legs and leave her butt sticking up in the air and whine and whine and just stay there until one of us gets her off the bed. She's so funny. We keep her in the house while we are gone too, she gets free roam of the house except for the rooms with carpet in them (she chewed a whole in our living room carpet one time in like a total of 5 seconds, so she doesn't get unsupervised carpet time anymore! LOL!) The living room doesn't have a door, so we use a gate to block it off. However, the rest of our house is stained concrete and she can't get enough grip under her on the concrete to jump over the dog gate, so I don't have to worry about that!

I thank god every day that Loki isn't really a jumper. Kiska has this really bad habit of thinking she is a cat and hanging out on the back of the couch or when her and Loki are playing and chasing each other through the house she takes the short cut up and over the couch, usually inches from my head, nothing like sitting there watching T.V. and having a white blur fly right next to your head. I swear some day she is going to misjudge and hit me.
