| Bane is a great puppy at 9 weeks old. He sits, shakes, and lays down. We have an issue putting his harness on to go for walks. He is perfect once we get it on him. We have never hit him or abused him with his harness or leash. He sees it come out of its drawer that its in, and runs and hides. When we get him out from his hiding place, he likes to bite, nip, and screech like we're abusing him. We don't know what to do other than give him treats as we're putting his harness on. We don't want him to get the idea that he ALWAYS gets treats with his harness being put on. Any suggestions? |

| I'd get it out and not put it on him, just show it to him, let him sniff it, touch it and get closer to it.. turn it into something that isn't a big deal. When he gets used to that then I'd try putting it on him.. make him sit, give paws and make it a game.
If Sky was hyped up it was a wrestling match to get her harness on (the kind where her legs went in first and it clipped at the back) so she has to sit and give me her paws which I'd put in then fasten it up. Yesterday we bought her a new harness that slips over her head and fastens underneath. |

| We have it just laying on the floor for now and he eyeballs it from across the room. I figured leave it there for a while, until we go for our walk and see how he acts.
We went to PetSmart today where they recommended us getting him an Easy Walk Dog Harness

She was telling us that this type of harness is supposed to help with any pulling issues they may have. Has anyone heard of this harness, or use/used it? Thanks! |

| Some people have success with the Easy Walk, but after MY personal experiences, I would never use it. It seemed like the front of the harness would never stay adjusted and it would always slide all the way back. If it doesn't fit, it won't work.
I tried using it with a Standard Poodle who had NO pulling issues and it didn't work with him. Tried it with my new foster..DEFINITELY didn't work. He responds much better to the KONG harness.
Since he is a puppy, he may adjust to it better then an adult.
But, in my opinion, I won't be using it ever again, and I don't recommend it. |

| I dont use the harness unless I'm running with harry and need him to pull my slow legs that extra mile. For walks, I've found just using the collar is far better. The harness makes him want to pull more and there's no good correction. Any pull on the leash makes him pull harder. With the leash attached to the collar, any pulling brings his head back and slows him down.
As far as not wanting to wear it, leaving it on the floor will help. If he's nervous around it, I'd leave it next to his food bowl so he gets comfortable being near it. The biggest step is putting it on and that make take some treats at first. It shouldnt be long though before the walk is the treat and he'll want to wear the harness. |

| I love the walk your dog with love harness. I just got two more so that i don't have to use the easy walk harness anymore because i hate it. The walk your dog with love harness is also a front clip harness but it doesn't loosen and works loads better then the easy walk. |

| We got some easy walk harnesses today free from a dog event in chicago so I'll be trying those for now otherwise I think I may try the wonder walk harness that seattlesibe suggested just because it has both front and back clips. I wanted to use the harness for the pups being on there tie outs instead of their collars but bella has already broken her buckle on it trying to chew it off. I know the top paw brand front clip was no good for me, got one for jasper and the material ripped almost in half just on a few minute car ride where he didnt chew or have anything to snag it on also just would not adjust right on him, it rode up his shoulders and gapped badly in the front. When i returned it and told the cashier it nearly ripped in half she was like "well you put it on a husky" yeah lady its meant for pulling dogs what do you think huskies do duuuuh! Anyway... The easy walk seems to fit better, but i have to adjust it the women who tried fitting it to jasper nearly got nipped by him, i didnt see as i was trying to calm my sisters dog but my mother says she came behind him and grabbed at his scruff so he snarked and opened his mouth at her and the harness is too lose but it definetly helped with his pulling immediately, bella it helped a bit honee we'll see she was put out because she was muzzled( she has some dog aggression issues we are trying to work on) so she was walking slower trying to get the muzzle off. |

I have a dalmatian who had issues with harnesses for as long as I've had her. She could pull out of them in a heartbeat, and they would make her pull even more. My vet recommended the easy walk harness and I will never go back. My Husky does great on a regular one, but every dog (different breed or not) is different. I highly recommend the easy walk and if you dont like it they let you take it back. They first wanted me to do the gentle leader that goes around the mouth and Bella figured out how to get out of that in 3 seconds so after a week they let me trade it! |

If someone tried to handle my husky like that (grabbing him by the scruff or manhandling him) I'd give them a good telling off. I don't care who you are, or who you're affiliated with. If you handle my dog that way, you're immediately on my bad side. I've actually upset my best friend due to something like this. My husky is only 1 year old, and I've only had him about 2 months. We were at my friend's house and my pup popped up at her. Not aggressively, just him being a playful puppy. She kneed him in the lower chest area and pushed him off of her, even though I was already in the process of pulling him back. Hmmm. I was decidedly unhappy. My husky & left her house about 5 minutes later; friend was upset because I was leaving and bailing on our plans for the day. When I told her WHY I was leaving, she made the mistake of telling me, "he's just a dog". Ooooo. Super mad! He's my "kid" and I expect my friends to treat him with some degree of respect. Needless to say, I don't allow her around my pup anymore. |

| She was lucky i didnt see her do it i was just glad my mother noticed or i'd be racking my brain to figure out why he tried nipping. At least she backed off right away though. We have the jumping problem too, i dont like the knee to chest move but we have started to tap at bella and jaspers neck or chest telling them off and im teaching up to mean thry are allowed to jump up and put paws on your chest to be petted. My mom yells and pushes back or flaps her arm at them and doesnt seem to get that that only riles them. |

| You might want to check under his elbows. I was having a similar problem with my little guy and noticed a few days ago, it was rubbing. I felt like such a mean mommy, making him wear that thing and thinking he was just being stubborn... Oh well, live and learn. |

| He ended up growing out it in the past week. So, we went and got him a collar, and there has been such a difference. He looks forward to going outside and has even gotten better with potty training since we don't have to fight him to put the harness on. He also has not been pulling. I'm not sure what to think of it, but am glad that we don't have to fight him anymore over it. |
