I was browsing Petco yesterday to look for martingale collars because Snoopy's fat head can't get an 18" choke chain over it very easily but even that's to loose for his neck, and I started looking at muzzles. I asked the lady why they don't carry metal cage muzzles and she literally told me it was because they make the dog look scary. They carry plastic cage style ones, but I thought that was kinda ridiculous. lol!

lol! That's to funny! Do you have a Tractor Supply in your area? They carry a ton of dog products (a lot of the same name brands) and they are a lot cheaper than Petco.

Yeah, we have a Fleet Farm. That's typically where I get my stuff like leashes, collars and treats. And I just found out they carry grooming supplies for super cheap so SCORE! They don't carry martingales but I'll have to ask about muzzles though.

I use a feed store for food because Fleet Farm doesn't carry anything grain-free and Petco and Petsmart are supersuper expensive and also don't carry what I feed, and I think I'm going to start using that Petco freeze dried food or that food that's in those tubes for treats because I realize that I use a lot of treats and I don't want to offset his nutrition intake by feeding him to much junk and then spoiling his meals.

That was kind of a rant lol

A lot of farm stores carry grain-free foods and products that are fairly inexpensive, its definitely something to check out. I've only gotten harnesses from PetCo, and toys from PetSmart, but I'm lucky enough to have a smaller brand pet store near me that carries my food and a lot of other grain-free options so I get most my stuff from there.

It's normal around here, plus sometimes they have horse grooming supplies that are the same as dog ones, only cheaper or vis versa. Fleet Farm is a general farm supply chain-store, think Walmart but with tractors. lol

And then there's a livestock feed store in my town that sells pretty much all kinds of food, from livestock to pets to wild animals (birds and deer mostly). And they carry a lot of the higher quality stuff too, the sister store to the one in my town carries even more products of even higher quality, along with the cheaper stuff. We get the dog food from the local one and I have to get the wet cat food from the sister store. However, the don't carry a lot of stuff that Petco or Petsmart does, but what they do carry is WAY cheaper.

If you have a farm store by you, you should definitely check it out or just call to see if they carry what you need/want

I'm not sure what Fleet Farm is but it sounds a lot like Tractor Supply. I love that store, I buy all my rabbit food, bedding and hay there. It's half (I kid you not) the price of Petco. We like looking at the fish at Petco when we go to town but I haven't bought much at all there, just way to over priced.

Did you check Amazon for martingales?

I'm looking at that now, actually. Since I wasn't happy with the selection and quality of the ones at Petco and Petsmart. I really like the leather on by $25 is to much for a collar... haha

I'm gonna go through Amazon to get some new collars. None of my local shops seem to carry reasonably priced limited slips.

Do any of you guys use a martingale off amazon? How's the quality?
I'm looking at a lot of mixed reviews and it makes me nervous about having one snap. He won't be wearing it in the house since we have two dogs, strictly for walks.

I order all of my collars from White Pine, they are a limited slip style collar with no snap and a guaranteed to not discolor or break the coat which is nice.
