So I recently did an order from Pawfectly Raw New England, and I have to say I'm very happy with her product and service.

I ordered a variety of the ground mixes and couldn't be happier. The mixes include bone ground in, and you can order them with organ or without. The first grind I gave Dizzy was the ground beef/tripe/organ mix. First of all, tripe stinks no matter how you give it to them, and this is no exception, but since he ate it in less than 30 seconds it wasn't awful. I just had to make sure I sealed the chub well so it didn't stink up the entire fridge. This morning we started with the lamb flanks/organ mix. All has gone over well with Dizzy and his stool has been small, and firm as is expected with raw.

She has a huge variety of products, both whole and ground so you really can feed a good variety. She also stocks some dried products like beef trachea so you can even get some treats/chews from her. Also, I've noticed on her facebook page, if you are looking for something in particular that is not a normal product, she can track it down for you.

I also ordered Diz some marrow bones. At $1.50/lb you really can't go wrong, and he loves them.

I drove out to CT to pick up the delivery from Tracy, although next time, I will probably just pay for shipping. She was on time, quick, professional, and very sweet. She even threw in a bag of duck feet as a thank you for me driving so far for the pickup.

Shipping - I'm not sure how far she ships, but she mentioned to me that she had recently shipped an order to SC of 50 lbs for $25 in shipping. So if you are interested in raw, but not close to a good supplier, call her or email her and see if she can ship to you. She is super quick to respond as well.

All in all, I will definitely make this a long term monthly thing. This makes feeding raw easier, and her prices are great even with shipping/driving costs. If you are thinking about a raw diet for you pup, but aren't sure where to start, she is great and could definitely help!

I'm so happy to see this review. I'm going to start ordering from her pretty soon I believe. Even if I don't use it for Nikolai, I am for sure going to be giving it to Siku. Her $25 shipping seems to be pretty standard cause thats what she told me it would be to ship to Maine.

How did it come packaged?

Her prices are crazy, I was doing out the math and I can feed Siku this for what it costs for me to do Orijen each month almost.

I ordered everything in 5 lb chubs, and essentially the are largish plastic tubes (think extra thick/tough trash bag material), tied closed with those sticky type twisty ties. Although I'm not sure if she would package differently for shipping. As a comparison, if I bought stuff from the grocery store I coul fit 30-40 lbs in the freezer if I completely stuffed it and had nothing else in there. I was able to easily fit 45 lbs of the ground plus the marrow bones without a problem. I probably could have fit 55-60 if I had nothing else in the freezer. I'll post a couple pix of the packaging tonight so you can see it.

That would be very helpful just to see. I'm just curious how she would ship, and how she would do it if you ordered the 50lbs of one thing, to me that seemed the most cost effective way to do it, but also gives no variety for a month. But I guess that will just have to be trial an error.

Yeah, I'm not sure what it would look like if you ordered a case of something, but I'm guessing 10 of the 5 lb chubs. I know that's the cheapest way to go, but I've noticed with Dizzy I have to change him up pretty often, otherwise he starts to react to everything. It's weird, but it's the way it goes with him. Sigh. If you want to do a case though, you could order one of the protein mixes, once you know what works for him. That way he's still getting several proteins, but you could still get the better deal.

I've heard so much about this lady now I'll have to give her a try, at least with a few raw bones to start. I don't intend on going full raw with Layla but I'm sure she'd love to try marrow bones. Thanks for the tip and all the info!

Interesting, not at all what I pictured them to be packaged like. I would hate to be the delivery guy who has to carry all that up my two flights of stairs when I get it shipped! I'm going to follow Dizzy's progress for a couple more days before I actually order.

So, he's doing well, but started refusing the lamb. I think he's just sick of it and it may be a little dry so tonight I'm going to mix in a little something to make it tastier (probably a bit of warm beef broth). Normally I would just wait him out, but I don't like how thin he is at the moment so I'm going to give in. On the plus side, his stool has been great. Very consistent and solid, but not hard. The amount of bone seems to be working well for him.

Well, I just put in another order, and am having it shipped this time. He's been doing very well, although I do find myself adding a bit of extra bone meal hear and there to make sure his poops are solid. I also started adding kelp on the advice of a dog show friend. He's not a fan of the lamb at all, so I won't be reordering that, but that's just a dizzy thing, not a quality issue. Beef/organ/tripe was a hit last night, and he totally licked his bowl clean, including the kelp. He ate about a pound and a third last night was was looking for more. This time I ordered beef/organ/tripe, pork/organs, turkey/organs, beef/fish/turkey/tripe mix along with more marrow bones and split knuckle bones. I like the ground stuff, it just makes it easier for me to measure and mix in the kelp for him, but I have to make sure to give him stuff to chew on to keep his teeth in good condition. :)He loves the marrow bones!!!

One thing I will say is that it's kind of messy and stinky as it defrosts. So I will let it defrost in the fridge for about 24 hours, until it's thawed enough to cut through, but still partly frozen. Then I just divide it up into servings and refreeze and then take one out each morning. Especially the tripe, if that sits in the fridge for more than a day it stinks up the whole apartment.

I bought some beef marrow bones at the grocery store the other day and tried one on Layla. She loved it too! I think I will order from this lady next time, though. When you receive the marrow bones, Jen, how are they packaged, and are they somewhat bloody? I had to rinse a lot of the pieces off and I put them in the freezer, so hopefully that helps next time I give her one. The one I gave her left a bit of blood on the carpet.    Luckily I was able to clean it up pretty easily.

They weren't very bloody, but they are messy. I always put a towel down for Diz at first. It's pretty cute, he knows he should keep it on the towel so if it rolls off he'll pick it up and move it back onto the towel.

I think Pawfectly Raw's prices for marrow bones are even better than at my local grocery store, and I like that they don't slice up the bone as small as the grocery store, so I'll definitely buy from her next time!
