| I got my husky, named Loki, Just a few months ago. He was given to me by the past owners who could not keep him home. They explained to me that his name used to be Nokey, But, He thought he was getting in trouble every time they went to call him as it begins with "No" So they changed it to Loki. I am seeing that there are a BUNCH of Huskies with the name, So I want to add some flare to it, Make it Longer. I have come to the problem that anything I come up with that as 'Loki' in it does not sound good. (I call him Loki the puny god ever since avengers, But do not want that as his name, LOL.) Would any of you have any suggestions? His sires name is Blue Boy Nanook if anyone wants to use that as inspiration. |

| Since you've had Loki awhile, I'd submit just a small change would be best. Keeping the name at two syllables and ending in "-e" wouldn't confuse him. So something like "Smokey" ? |

| No, I still really like the name Loki and wish for him to keep it. It is just so common I am looking to make it longer. Sort of like how a horse has a Show name and a Barn name (exmp: Nanook of the Steens as a show name, with Nanook as the barn name) I am looking to give him a 'show' name, but keep Loki as his 'barn' name. Thank you very much for the suggestion though!!! |

| I know this doesn't answer your question, but it's kind of on topic.
A family friend adopted a Shepherd mix a few years ago that came with the name Loki, and they didn't like that it has mischievous origins, so they changed it to Lucky.

| There is a "version" of Loki in an AD&D campaign set in the Forgotten Realms. His name is Cyric. - Quote :
- Cyric is a deity in the fictional Forgotten Realms campaign setting, a branch of the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. Cyric has many titles, including the Prince of Lies, the Dark Sun, the Black Sun, the Mad God, and the Lord of Three Crowns. Cyric is closely associated with the essence of murder, strife, lies, intrigue, and illusions.
Wiki - Cyric He was once just a normal thief who ascended into godhood by killing the old god of Strife during a time when all the gods were cast from the heavens and sent to live as mortals to prove themselves worthy of their throne. He then took on that mantle and became the "Prince of Lies". He drove himself mad by reading his own "magical" book of propaganda and now he believes he is the most awesome god in the Realms. All that did however was make him even more powerful then he was before as he no longer had any doubt in his power. Really awesome set of books.... Anyways maybe one of the many "Titles" Cyric has could be something to think about ~Chris~ _________________ Is this about the cake problem? | I know what you mean, when we were thinking of a name I didn't really want Loki either because it was so common, we have Ruby the lab, and Balon the husky (Balon got his name from a character on Game of Thrones.) BUT the name Loki was chosen by my son and really it does fit the little trouble maker lol. |

| none of my dogs are named loki, but i hardly ever use their given name
Izzy- Crocket, Croccodile, Rizzle Keno- Rasty Tasty, or one or the other Klutch- Klutchaphile, Klutchie, Klutchule Koozie- Kooz, Koozle
so i don't think it really matters, as most dogs get so many nicknames. |
