| I am new here, but not new to huskies. Vixen is my 3rd husky, but my first female. We also lost our 14 year old Malamute/wolf hybrid, Tim, this week. I need some advice.
Vixen is 4 months old and recently has gone from being a quiet, calm pup to a CONSTANT whiner. I mean, this goes beyond normal husky focalization. Our other two boys were always eerily silent, until they had something important to say, and other than their nightly singing sessions. Tim was also pretty quiet, he just talked when he wanted your attention. Vixen WHINES, constantly. She whines while she is playing. She whines on walks. She whines while she is eating. She whines in the car. She sits in my lap and whines. She has had a full checkup, there isn't a thing wrong with her, she is just whiny!
Tim passed away Monday, and I am sure she misses her buddy, as we al do. But now the whining is even worse. I am not ready to get a second dog yet, need time to get over Tim. But how on earth can I get this girl to shut up?!
I am sure I am doing something wrong, and she's trying to communicate that. But darned if I know how to make her happy. Is this just a girl thing? Please tell me she will grow out of it! There is no peace or conversation in this house when she is around, and I find myself sending her outside to "play" just to get some quiet.
Help!

| I have no idea, but my Yuki is a little whiny. I will admit, she drives me nuts sometimes. She whines in the morning when I wake up, and when I get home, but I just ignore her until she stops, and praise her once she stops. Woo-ing, however, I encourage, so shes a very talkative little lady Hope someone else stops by to help. |

| Yes! I love the "wooooowwoooooing!" it is the incessant squeaking that drives me nuts. We walked for miles today, and for half the walk she was "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" at least she fell asleep on the way home. I am so hoping this is something she will grow out of and not a lifelong personality trait! |

| I'm actually fairly new to huskies, have had my Meeka for 3 weeks now. When I brought her in we were dog-sitting a small C.spaniard-chihuaha mix. We had the mix for 3 weeks and on Monday the owners came back for her and boy did Meeka howled all night voicing her sadness.
Unfortunately or fortunately the mix's owners family had to leave again due to a family emergency brought back their mix yesterday and the howling stop last night.
My best guess is that your dog is depressed and is showing it. |

| Oh, I also wanted to mention something. I would try not to exercise your pup too much the rule of thumb is usually 5 minutes per month of age per walk, but you can have multiple walks a day (I did one morning one evening). The reason is that if she is over-exercised at a young age it could lead to arthritis or joint issues at an early age. As for the whining, I'm sure she will grow out of it. I would simply ignore her when she whines, praise her when shes woo-ing. Just my advice though |

| Mental stimulation is a great way to exercise as well. Teach her new tricks, hide treats and have her find them, get treat dispensing toys that work her mind |
