So Chuck, for probably about the last 2 months of his 4.5 month life, has been continuously congested. You can hear clicking with breathing a lot of the time, his voice will be scratchy and you can hear wheezing sometimes, particularly when upside down, and if you rub his face you can hear the mucus.

About a month ago the vet said it was inflammation related to teething, and I guess he's still teething, but I'm just not sure if I buy that he should be continually congested the whole time he's a puppy.

Does anyone have thoughts or experience with this? He does have all his shots.

I don't have any experience with it, but it seems like a long time to be continuously congested. I would take him back to the vet or get a second opinion.

What are you feeding him? Dizzy was always congested when he was around that age, and I think it had to do with his diet. I was trying to get him on raw right away and was giving him raw chicken. It turns out he is allergic (itching) and intolerant (diarrhea) to chicken. Once I put him on kibble and varied the protein it cleared up. He would do this odd snort/reverse sneeze thing randomly and paw at his nose. I recently started re-incorporating raw back into his diet (raw pork) and he is doing very well on that. You could try changing up his food, with a different protein and see if that helps.

Also, recently, he got some new strain of kennel cough going around and was coughing a bit, but quite stuffy and mucasy. He also seemed to have a minor fever and i could tell he just felt icky. he was more tired than usual, more attached to me, drank more water, etc. When he woke up in the morning there was a crust around his nose. That has now come and gone and he's back to normal. There was definitely a difference between the allergy reaction and having a virus. Does chuck have any other symptoms? Is he itchy, have red skin, have bowel issues? If so I'd guess some sort of allergy.

It could also be an environmental allergy. Has there been a time when he didn't have the congestion? If so is there something different about that time? I'm not sure about the teething, but that does kind of make sense. When I was having continuous sinus issues earlier this summer, my teeth would hurt, so I guess teething would make sense since the new teeth are coming down.

He's on Wellness Super 5 mix large breed puppy. I switched him from Royal Canin after they started using meat byproducts about a month ago but I *think* it has persisted longer than that. It may be worth a try.

The funny thing is that he seems to have kennel cough symptoms the the wheeziness in the morning but he is vaccinated. I guess just like flu shots they can't cover all strains, but then again it's been a *long* time as well.

Gah, stuffy puppy makes me sad. I will probably end up getting a 2nd opinion.

Ha ha, yeah, these puppies right? I feel like if I keep him alive and healthy for the first year it will be a miracle. Maybe try nutrisca lamb and chick pea, or try to find something with one protein to see how he does. Kennel cough should only last around 2 weeks. Dizzy is vaccinated as well, but you're right, it doesn't cover everything. He was sick for just under 2 weeks, so if its lasting longer than that, it's probably something else.
