| Subject: New Mammoth Pup! Mon Feb 18, 2013 11:07 pm | |
| Hi all! So my girlfriend and I recently picked up our pup this past week. She's a real mountain pup- comes from a long line of dogsled pups and is half malamute and half husky- Siberian and Alaskan. She was also born on the coldest day of the year, I think it had to have been negative 10-15 or something like that... yeah, she's hardcore. Anyways, as you can probably tell, we haven't found a suitable name yet. I've heard that pups become what you name them so we're being very selective. She has one hell of a personality and we want her name to reflect it. On to the pup: she's beautiful- bright blue eyes, great dark coat and really cool facial markings. She has a puppy biting problem- I've considered naming her nibbler, but out of fear that she wouldn't outgrow the little bites I've decided not to lol. I've never had a husky before so I can't say whether it's abnormally bad or not. She's only about 9 weeks old so I'm going to assume she'll grow out of it. We discovered the other day that she had worms in her poop- disgusting but we headed right to the pet store for some OTC stuff and it's looking like it's going away. We're also having tons of fun trying to crate train her...lol. She is however taking well to being housebroken and as of today it has been almost 24 hours since the last incident! Progress! Another thing, she LOVES the snow. There's snow on the ground up here almost 9 months out of the year and lucky for her it's supposed to dump tomorrow. She likes eating snow almost a little too much... Oh yeah, almost forgot... She has two roomates who are of the feline variety. They aren't speaking right now. Anyways, I'll be posting regularly as she sure is a handful/bundle of joy. Thanks for all the support/advice/knowledge in advance! I'll post tons more pics once I get them hosted somewhere. |

| Nice pup! Where are you from that has snow on the ground 9 months out of the year? Canada? I am super jealous, Colorado has been lacking of good snow the last few years. |

| We live in Mammoth Lakes, CA. The snow will clear out in town by June but it'll sit on the mountains until well after July... Mammoth Mountain usually stays open for skiing/snowboarding until the 4th of July.
Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'm stoked to go through the whole puppy experience with everyone's cumulative knowledge just a post away. |

| Gorgeous puppy! Congrats to you. All puppies have worms--your vet can treat her with ease. Mine got three different rounds of mess. No biggie. Enjoy her!!! |

| I love her markings congrats, worms that is all puppies so not to worry as long as it is treated and most puppies bite it is in the nature. Mainly depends on the type of biting, our trainer had us say ouch/oowee at the hardest ones and give a toy. Then with time when the bites get lighter change it so that you still say ouch at the hardest level of bite. Bourbon moved down from painful nibbles to a little sleeve grabbing so we have moved to grabbing his nose and no since I do not think he "bought" the ouch on the sleeve. I got a funny look when I tried that one. Good luck keep us posted with pics and possible names! |

| Oh. My. Glob. LOOK AT THOSE PAWS! Look at her little face! <3 I am in love over here.
The naming thing must be true. I named mine Malfoy before I even picked him up and it's becoming totally fitting for my little momma's boy jerk. |
