Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| What do they want? (through their eyes) Good food: Human food is nice, but if you give it to me enough, I'll go on hunger strike until you give it to me again. Just feed me a quality hard dog food.
A lot of fresh water: All this fur makes me hot, and I need to keep myself hydrated.
A lot of exercise: If you let me build up too much energy, I can be destructive. Take me out for a long walk and all is forgiven.
Your attention: When you ignore me. I think you are mad at me. Pet me, scratch my belly, toss a ball for me from your favourite chair. These things let me know that you aren't mad, you're just too tired to go run.
A crate: I need a place to hide all the nice things you give me. My crate is my bedroom, and I need my private space where I can go when I am frightened, stressed, or just need a break from your kids. It's not confining unless you leave me there for hours on end. It's part of my nature to like Dens - to me it's my home.
To respect you: You don't like working for a boss that you don't respect & neither do I. Don't put yourself in a position where your role as the leader is questionable. Be a strong leader & I will be a strong follower.
You to respect me: I'm a pretty serious machine when you think about it. Respect what I can do for you, as well as what I can do to you.
To roll in the dirt: Your life is too serious. Spend a few afternoons with me and I will remind you of what it is like to laugh.
A dry place to sleep: I can survive in temperatures as crual as -70 fahrenheit. It doesn't mean I like it all the time. I want to be near you. I want to hear you snore, I swear I'll never complain. I don't ever want to feel alone again.
To trust you: I want to greet you without hesitation; to put myself in a vulnerable position for you; to allow you to manage my life. I don't offer these things lightly, and I will let you know when you have earned my trust. Yes, it is something to be proud of.
To see you: I know you are having fun, and being able to hear it but not see it will drive me insane. I can handle not being the center of the family, but at least let me be part of it.
I don't like to be hit: I learnt my manners from my mum before I was 6 weeks old. They are good at that - teaching us when we are playing too rough or when we are getting too big for our boots. If I have to leave my mum before she teaches me, I won't know what I'm supposed to do. Somehow you humans think that hitting use is discipline. It teaches me nothing except you are a source of pain and that frightens me. It hurts and I don't like it at all. If you do it enough I might show you how strong our jaws are, or take out my frustration on a child or neighbour
I like to Run: I was born to pull something 40 times my own body weight over long distances in temperatures that you wouldn't like. It's what we do - it's in my blood. I've been saving my energy waiting for you to get back from work. Now that you're here - you've got time to change your clothes, but don't take too long as I'll get bored and amuse myself. I might play with that interesting sofa or table leg or those clothes you've just left around. Don't blame me. It's not my fault.

| I have seen this elsewhere. While cute, give credit where credit is due and site sources when posting material that is not yours. _________________ |
