PostSubject: Hello! A Little Introduction.   Hello! A Little Introduction. EmptyFri Mar 01, 2013 2:48 pm

Well obviously I'm new. I'm 20, live in Michigan, and work at a dog kennel. I thought I'd try a forum dedicated to my favorite breed. I have had the pleasure of living with four Siberian Huskies total.
My first Sibe was a gray and white male with one blue eye & one brown eye. Summit died in 2008 at the age of 13 years.
Mady, the black and white female with brown eyes, was the second. She will be 9 in May. She is the little princess of the family.
The third Husky to join my family was Kumari, the dark gray and white female with blue eyes. She will be 10 in June. She's the old lady, content to do very little except lay outside or on her dog bed inside.
Phoenix, the red/copper and white female with blue eyes, in my avatar, is the last one. She will be 3 in May. She's my baby, and I spoil her a bit. I love her more than anything in this world.
Well, that's a bit about me and my Sibes. Let me know if there is anything I should know. Thanks. Smile

Thanks everyone! It's great to see some other Michiganders!
Have either of you been to the dog park in Lake Orion?

Thanks. It's funny actually. My dream dog was a red & white MALE Husky with blue eyes. I got my red & white with blue eyes, but it was a female. My parents got her for me. They just ignored her gender and named her Phoenix. I felt bad changing it since she was a gift. Haha.

Thank you. Your pack is stunning. I have not seen many piebald Huskies like your Sophie. Is Maya a piebald too?

Nope she just has a cool white marking on her neck, lol. Sophie's coat pattern is a splash coat. For the coat pattern to be called piebald their coat has to be more then 50-60% white, or something along those lines. I didn't know much about it until i did some research, lol. Smile

It's pretty much a matter of opinion but i like having the difference of "Splash coats" and "piebalds". Most of the info i got was from here.

Thanks Abby. It's like my girls color. Many people call her brown, but those are mostly people that don't know anything about Sibes. Then there is the question of whether she's a "red" or a "copper" Husky. Mostly a matter of opinion in the end.

Thanks guys. I'm looking forward to getting to know other people with Huskies and their packs. Very Happy

I know a perfect meet up - but you can't brign dogs Sad BUT you can get to know a lot of great breeders and meet a lot of great dogs. The Siberian Husky Club of Greater Detroit is hosting their annual specialty next weekend! March 9 & 10 Smile I'll be there.

It's in dexter which is a bit of a driver, but I believe it is either free or 5 for spectators. Is an all day event and their will be lots of dogs and vendors. Smile
