training - Training Help Empty

Hello everyone,

I am a new member to itsahuskything.com and I'm looking for some serious advice.

A Little Back Story. My husband & I are former owners of a husky, named Tigger who passed away last Spring. We are certainly familiar with how a husky "works."

About a month ago we adopted Nala. A year old Husky mix, we believe. However, we are not sure what she may be mixed with. And boy, are we having problems.

First off, Biting. Constantly. We've attempted at grabbing her mouth and saying no. But it doesn't seem to stop. She has even attempted to bite my wedding ring! She has plenty of toys of all kids but her favorite toy seems to be my arm.

Second, Crate training. She whines a lot we've been told by our neighbors. We've attempted a kong in the kennel with her & covering the crate with a blanket but no luck. Still howling, barking and whining.

Finally, she just met the neighbor dog today and showed signs of aggression. The hair on her neck stood up, she barked a deep bark and growled.

We never had these problems with our former husky and I'm surprised by how she is acting. Is there any advice you can give? I've read over the crate thread, and the biting thread I just feel she may being defiant in general.

Any help with be greatly appreciated!

I don't have any advice to offer being a juvenile when it comes to husky behavior and training. However, her issues could probably stem from her previous environments. You got her after a year of forming bad habits and lord only knows what her previous situations could have been like. All I can really say is just keep on with what you're doing, it took months for her bad habits to form so naturally they won't be fixed in a month. Hopefully others will chime in with more specific advice. Good luck!
