Hi there! I'm a newbie on the forum and don't have my husky yet. I had one growing up and I am finally in a place work and lifestyle-wise that I feel I can bring one into our family. I am so excited and I can't wait. I've been researching breeders, rescues, apartment life with huskies, and many other topics! This forum has been so helpful, and I know when my pup comes home in a couple of months this will be an awesome resource. I moved out to NYC about 5 years ago and I miss her SO much (and my family too, if anybody asks). I tried to upload some pictures, and couldn't figure out how, so i'll have to read the stickies so I can figure it out. Anyway, I've commented on a couple posts and asked some questions, so I figured I should introduce myself! Nice to meet you all.

I am really going back and forth about it. I would like to adopt, but I have 2 cats and live in an apartment. Most rescues I've tried to get in contact would deny me with either conditions, and with both are not really comfortable with us. Also I see both benefits and challenges with getting a puppy. Challenges are obvious, but I would really like to do the CGC and TDI with my dog, so it would be great to raise and train a puppy. However, that means that therapy dog is a few years down the road (which is fine, I don't mind waiting and working). I have a breeder picked out, with a deposit on a litter due early to mid March, but I am still considering rescue if I can find one that will work with me. My breeder is very good, and well known in the husky show world, and pet puppies are sold on a contract including spay/neuter with limited AKC registration. One thing I will absolutely NOT compromise on is where I get a puppy from, if I choose to get a puppy. I will NOT support a BYB or puppy mill in any way. My other issue is timing. I basically have the month of May off from work, and my husband works from home, so I really want to bring the dog/puppy home around the 3rd or 4th of May so I have plenty of time to devote to integrating the new puppy or dog into the family. Which makes it difficult to find a rescue that is cat friendly on a specific date. So, I'm still in the consideration phase. I feel like if I could find the right dog, from a rescue at the right time I would much prefer to go that direction. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

She's pretty healthy too. Some hearing loss and joint pain every now and then. Its sad to see the hearing loss, her head used to snap around at the slightest sound and now I have to shout to get her attention. A few months ago she hurt herself playing too rough with the golden. He just stands there and she jumps around him, nipping and trying to get him to play. He's so patient. She was on a pain reliever for a week or so and healed up and has been fine since. Its so hard to see them aging though. Every time I go home and see her, I think it could be the last time... Okay gotta stop, I'm making myself cry at work.
