Raw Heart Empty
PostSubject: Raw Heart    Raw Heart EmptyMon Feb 25, 2013 5:15 pm

Hello,

I have some questions regarding raw lamb heart.

1: Does heart court as muscle meat or organ meat?
2: How much can I feed? 5% or more?

Many thanks

Hearts count as muscle meat. For it to be classified as an organ for feeding purposes, I believe it needs to be a secreting organ (kidney, liver etc). Smile

I know I read somewhere that giving too much heart can cause a vitamin issue (Vitamin A I think), but I can't really remember it now. I'm sure somebody else with more experience than me will chime in. Smile

UndarthAngipoo: Thank you for your reply.
Interesting! =) I didn't know feeding too much heart would cause a vitamin issue. I thought it would only apply to liver.
Thank for that, I will bear in mind =)

Heart is a lean muscle meat rich in iron and fatty acids and is good for the dogs heart. Heart should make up about 5-10% of the 80% muscle meat that you feed.

We feed a bit higher of a ratio at times, but only when we use turkey heart. There is a lot more fat on the beef heart.

Hello, interesting that different animal has hugh different in fat combination.
So, 1: what animal heart is the best to put a bit weight on?
2:Which to avoid for parasite?
3:What do ration do you use on the turkey heart and beef heart?

Thank you
