I don't know if there was a post on this or not, but when I searched nothing showed up. Anyways, Vegeta is a chewer, and a biter, and a whiner, and a pooper, and most of all a gosh darn chewer. Yes I know I said it twice. I understand the whole, he's bored deal. That's not what I'm talking about. He LOVES to chew on towels, clothes (jeans, sweet pants, shoes....all while being worn), blankets, rugs, furniture, comforters, etc. I don't mind the rugs and furniture because it's nothing that isn't already beat up and I tell him no once, redirect him, and he's good while we're in that room. Then we leave the room, come back, and he decides since we left the room the rules automatically reset. Silly dog. The thing that annoys me is the clothes, towel and comforter chewing. The clothes is annoying but I think that's one of those things that will fix itself with constant redirecting and such. The towel and the comforter thing is a little more difficult. How can I teach him they aren't chew toys? I'd like to have him be able to sleep in my bed when he's older (maybe) and not destroy the comforter when we go on along car rides. Are there any methods to show that the comforters/sheets/towels aren't to be chewed on other than redirect?

kodiak has started chewing too when we are not looking, that includes our couch, wires, luckily he hasn't been shocked yet as far as I know, shoes, and pulling tissues out of the garbage. can't figure out how to stop it.

The only way I've ever made it through puppyhood with my belongings intact is to keep everything picked up and out of reach. When I couldn't be there to supervise (meaning 100% of my attention), then pup got confined to an area where there was nothing of value to destroy.

Did they ever grow out of it?

well obviously you cant use it on EVERYTHING but we've had great sucess with Bitter Apple Spray. I bought of 1-800 petmeds for about $10 and just spray it on anything kiba has interest in. She almost immediatly loses interest in it. Ive heard people say their dogs dont mind it but it's worked out well for us. Is redirecting not working well for your puppy? With trash its hard to re-direct but we've had decent success when she starts chewing clothes, socks ect and replacing it with toys. It just takes some time

For my furniture I spray no chew by nature micrale. He does love to chew on towels but just the towels we use to wipe his muddy paws. He destroyed one set of bed sheets by chewing a big hole in it. He use to chew on the blanket but he grew out of it. How old is your little man?

he's only 10 weeks, so I'm still a long way from it all sinking in. I just didn't know if you guys had any techniques other than redirect. I'll probably try a spray and see how he reacts to it.

I had the same problem with Selena when we first got her..I have holes in my carpet, my couch, she steals the towels off my oven door, ate my shoes..you name it she wanted to eat it...I realized she just didn't have enough toys, bones, STUFF in general to keep her busy. She now has well over 50+ toys, deer antlers, bully sticks, chewy bones, lots of beds...I don't know if I just have her spoiled a bit lol or not, BUT..all those things have worked and she has stopped chewing things she shouldn't now that she has lots of fun & yummy things!

God my living room is covered in dog toys and chews. But anytjing to keep him happy and myfurtniture safe. Loki use to like to steal water bottles but that stopped.

Karli used to LOVE socks...to the point that she could pull them right off your feet. So I took some of my old ones and gave them to her. Now she rarely if ever chews socks and she doesn't take them off our feet anymore. Kongs are a big help too. And I had to teach my hubby to keep the things he didn't want Karli to get off the floor (or not at Karli level as I called it.)
