| Yeah- the yard still needs about 50 ft or so of fencing. We have it... just haven't had the time to put it up yet. That's our next project. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

Thanks! That was one of the biggest selling points for this place It was also about 90% fenced in. We only needed to put in about 15 feet in the front and 35 feet in the back. AND continuing the trend of our awesome neighbors... we got ALL that fence for free plus TWO gates!! One of our neighbors no longer needed it and it was just sitting in his shed, so he GAVE it to us! We offered several times to pay him, but he wouldn't let us! He saved us a few hundred dollars at least! I need to bake them brownies now It's the least I could do! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Stupid Tori and her stupid huge yard! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to fence? If we end up needing to fence our own yard, I'm trying to anticipate the cost... |

I don't mind but I am not a good judge. We have a 1/2 acre of land and we only had to fence off about 50 feet of linear fence total, got most of the materials for free from our neighbor, and did the work ourselves. Most of our yard was already fenced off. Our neighbors let us tie into their fencing, so we had about 350 feet already fenced. I do know that the gates for a 4 ft fence cost at least $40 each (6 ft chain link is around $75-80) and you have to buy the chain link by the roll. For 4 ft chain link it's about $100/50 linear feet. That doesn't include all the small pieces of hardware that you need to secure it and the materials for digging, etc. We spent $40 total fencing off the remaining portion of the yard and might spend up to $75 total depending on how many top-rails we still need to get. We have most of them, but we're definitely missing about 20 feet or so. But again, we already had most of the materials. At the end of the day, it really depends on how much yard you need to fence off and whether or not you are doing the work yourself! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Meet up at Tori's!!! Love the little pond pics and the plants around it! Koda looks so handsome there! Both dogs looked like they were in heaven on their first run around the yard! - Koda wrote:

And it also depends on how tall a fence you put in and what materials you use! Are you looking for a house off post, Heather? Another thing to consider is resale value when putting up a fence too. Chain link can be cheaper but some people don't like the look of chain link fences...myself included (no offense to those with chain link fences). Just another thing to consider...I'm probably not helping, am I? FWIW, we paid $15 per linear foot for 6' wood privacy fencing with top rail, trim board, post caps, and 2 walk through gates (4' and 5'). And we paid $25 per linear foot for 6' black aluminum fencing with one 4' walk through gate. Our prices included labor and materials. I will say that it was NOT cheap but we wanted something good looking that would help the resale value of the home as well. _________________ |

Thanks! Those plants are amazing. We didn't do anything and they just sprang up! And yes, anyone want a meet up, you are more than welcome! - Huskyluv wrote:

Know you weren't making a dig, but just as a conversation piece, we actually DON'T want chain link! LOL. However, ALL of our neighbors have it and because of the price difference (and our ability to get the fencing for free right now) we decided to do chain link for the time being to save money. However, we personally intend on putting up some wood privacy fencing in the future. Since we don't want to ruin the open and friendly environment of the neighborhood though, we are doing 4ft privacy with 2 ft of lattice on top. That way it's 6 ft wood fencing, but we can still openly converse with the neighbors and not feel like we're shutting people out It's definitely something to consider, Heather _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Oh Tori I LOVE the lattice top on a wood privacy fence. We talked about getting it for our yard but the HOA would not approve it...boo!
And really, if one absolutely had to go with chain link I think black chain link fencing looks the best and blends in better than the silver/grey, green, or white.
White PVC fencing is getting pretty popular too and that has the option for the lattice top as well. They are really easy maintenance too. Our HOA doesn't approve PVC fencing either though. Now that I bring that up, keep that in mind when you are house shopping Heather! Find out what kind of fencing is and isn't approved in the neighborhoods you consider. I know a lot of waterfront properties in certain neighborhoods do not allow anything above 4 ft in the section that backs to water. We had to pass on a number of homes when we were looking for that reason specifically. _________________ |

We had some black chain link from John's parents, but it wasn't enough to do the back and with the yard being so big, I honestly was worried about the dogs running into it constantly because you CANNOT see it from one end of the yard to the other! LOL. We also figured that since all the neighbors have metal chainlink, we decided to keep it uniform. I can't wait until we can afford wood! And thanks, Val We're excited about it too! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand.

| i love our wood fence and i love that we really only "own" the front section, when we bought the house i asked all our neighbors if they owned the back fence or if we did or if it was split, i was told i owned none of it. so any work that needs to be done i just walk over and say hey that post is lose.... now the back fence is the worst as their dogs are not friendly and he has had to replace most of the panels, unfortunately jack has gotten his paw stuck because he pushed the nails out and the board moved, i wish he would have used some screws to secure it better. i have thought about putting panels on our side as well to keep the peace between the dogs. i really like the PVC fence but wish it looked like wood, not a fan of white. i hate HOA's Val yours seems worse then ours. _________________ |

| We will be living on post- I drove by the base yesterday and saw mostly wood fencing, but I'm not sure which community it was in (there's 3, we can only be in one)- I think our only options are wood or chainlink if there isn't one already there. No resale value guys- I'll either take it down or leave it! Sigh... military life. |

| I didn't know where to put this, but I wanted to share a little humorous revelation from this weekend. I had my bridal shower, so my sister was here all weekend and we were talking. She has two dogs as well (rescue mutts) but she always LOVES Hailey when she comes over... So we were talking about how everyone loves Hailey because of how sweet she is and Koda is just a complete doufus. My sister was surprised when I told her that Hailey, for as much as I love her, is just dumb as a doornail. LOL. Crystal (my sis) was all shocked! "Really? You think she's dumber than Koda??" "Oh yeah... Koda is extremely intelligent with absolutely no social skills. Hailey is dumb as a rock, but extremely well socialized." She laughed but still didn't believe me. That's when my best friend piped in, "Oh I believe it! Do you know how many times this dog hits her head on a daily basis?" It's interesting. Because Hailey, again... sweetest dog in the world and wants so much to please, but we've had her for a year and a half. She will STILL not sit and wait for her food. She gets up and moves closer towards it EVERY time. Honestly. Every damn time. And this is NOT something we're inconsistent with. We used to pride ourselves on Koda's meal manners. He would stay perfectly calm and still and wait up to 10-15 mins (that was an accident) to eat until we said Okay. Hailey just doesn't get it. She at least holds off until we say "Ok!" but she will get up and walk around and move closer every time. It took me 30 mins of sit/lay down training the other night and she STILL doesn't get it. Koda picks up tricks instantly (seriously feels like that sometimes). However... Koda will try and nip at my best friend's 14 month old son if he gets too excited. Hailey will walk around him, let him play with her tail, pet her, she'll kiss him. Her social skills are AMAZING. She gets along with EVERY dog. Just polar opposites and on two completely different sides of each spectrum. They make an interesting pair (FYI- Still working with Hailey. I'm almost wondering if she is honestly hard of hearing. I'm going to try picking up clicker training more with her. Koda never cared much for it, but I think she responds well to it, and I wonder if it's the loud sharp clicker noise. I'm seriously almost wondering if she doesn't hear well) _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| oh man Tori i can't remember how old Hailey is.... i really thought Jack was dumb as a door nail our trainer we had come to the house even though so!!!! but i really think it was his age messing with him it was not till he was about 2-2.5 did he smarten up! now he is such a good boy and knows commands and what he should and should not be doing. maybe Hailey still needs to "grow up" or she just can't hear oh and what is she hitting her head on? at least with your shower no one got out of the house! _________________ |
