| So i noticed lately that several people mentioned they take their dogs on errands and into stores and places with them. I would LOVE to take Kiba on more short car rides with me to places other than the park or walking trail! Other than Petsmart/Petco, where are some good places to take your husky? Also, if you run errands with them how do handle leaving them in the car? Im scared to leave her because she whines and yips in the car if i get out for a second (like to pump gas ). I dont want people to think a dogs being tortured inside my car when i get out of it hehe. Thoughts and ideas for good places we can go together ? Thanks! |

| Outdoor malls are nice for socialization, coffee shops with outdoor seating are fun too. Hopefully other people will have more suggestions! Practice Kiba's car skills just like a crate, that's what I did for mine. Start with 30 secs, and then slowly increase the time I think mine is actually better in the car than her crate lol. |

| Home Depot is a great place as well, they are all dog friendly (I call ahead on new ones anyway just to be sure), and there are lots of good socialization opportunities. Honestly I really try not to leave dogs in the car at all, but I'll do it on quick errands. I always worry though _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I take both of my dogs with me every time I go get gas, go get fast food, run to the grocery store as long as I'm only going for a few items. Any trip I'm making that I'm not going to be in a store for a long time my dogs are with me. |

| I am not sure where you are located, but you can take dogs to Bass Pro Shop. I heard conflicting things about Home Depot allowing dogs, their official policy is no pets, but I think some managers allow it.
Chipotle allows dogs in their outside patio areas. If you go to bringfido.com they have a good list according to area.
I only take my dogs with me if I am going to places that allow them, or the beach or park. Other than that they stay home, especially Yukon because he gets car sick.
I also take them to festivals around the area in the summer time, and there are a couple of nurserys as well. I have only left my dog in the car twice, once to run in to pick up a pizza, and once to go into a store for like 2 minutes. And then I had the windows 1/4 open, sunroof open and tied his leash to the steering wheel lol. |

| I take mine alot of places and leave them in the car for 5- 10- 15- minutes at a time with the windows down in the summer time when temps are very high they stay at home. I was also told Bass Pro was pet friendly never tried it yet. Lowe's out door area is okay for mine I took Blaze inside Lowe's once and it probably would have been okay if he hadn't bark for some reason that basely got us kick out. Outdoor seating is good if you can find places that don't mind. I take them to doggie functions there are several during the warmer months here like "Bark in the Park" and such. |

| If I have to run out later at night for something quick from a store they'll come. If I know I'm going to be out of the car for anything more than 5 minutes, they won't come.
There's a major public university in my city (my alma matter), so everynow and again I like to go for walks through there. It's fun with all the people around. |

| in the winter i will leave them in the car for up to an hr if we go eat somewhere. my crying Jack does fine for some reason..... we take them to any out door patio eating place we can in the summer but for the most part they are only in the car with us if we are going somewhere for them, dogpark, vet, hiking, meet ups but those always involve me running into one store or another to grab something and i keep treats in the car (locked away) and they get treats for being good in the car while im gone. never took them into HD or bass pro , i have taken them to the outdoor outlet mall and they can go into a few stores there, and the Columbia store. again they happen to be with me after doing a dog thing! _________________ |

| I don't take my dogs anywhere unless it's to the vet or when we are traveling. I used to but it's gotten to be more trouble than it's worth because then I have to clean the car of slobber and fur. Plus it takes so much longer to run errands when I have to leash up the dog, bring water, poop bags, and load them in and out.
Now I am even less likely to take them anywhere if I don't have to because it's quite a chore just going out with a baby, last thing I need to deal with is dogs on top of that. Funny how things change...5 years ago I wanted to take my sibe everywhere if I could. _________________ |

| We take out dogs to lowes and Home Depot with us. I'm thankful to live in a very dog friendly area and there are lots of stores that allow dogs, even some restaurants (plenty of outdoor eating and a special doggie cocktail). |

| Other then going to the doggie park, park to walk with Mya, vet, petsmart. I don't really take mine anywhere with me. The only time I bring one of them is when I'm going to pick up hubby from work and I was working from home. I usually bring Asia or Mya. Kody is a little wacky in the car. Very rarely we take them to breakfast at dunkin donuts, a Cuban restaurant by the house, or the bakery. When that does happen, it's only one of them. The three is too much work..lol. |

| Home Depot and Lowes out here allow pet traffic as well as all the ranch supply stores. Then of course the Petco/Petsmart which we do enjoy going to, well Petsmart anyway :p |

| Starbucks, outdoor Farmer's Markets, Pet stores, lots of short car trips ie- drive-thru, bank, etc., the lake in the summer to go swimming (thankfully my uncle owns lake front property, so it's quiet and no weird people lol) planning a beach trip to Santa Cruz, and a trip to Cayucos, Ca to visit fam) I try and take him lots of places. I can tell he hates being home for long periods of time, he likes to get out and do things

| I bring Rogue with me everywhere aside from restaurants that don't have outside seating- right now anyways. Though I can bring her in, I feel it's disrespectful when she's blowing coat and people are eating, haha.
Koda is a home body. He will go on car rides to stop by somewhere, but he doesn't prefer big crowded places and likes to sleep on the couch all day. So, only outdoor activities with him really. |

| Before we sold our business (end of Nov) I used to take the pups with me everyday to it I would leash them in the back so customers didn't see them. My employee at the time loved dogs. She has two of her own one is a husky. I took them when I went to the bank drive thru even into the bank but only one at a time. I took them when I made deliveries to some of my customers businesses left them in the car for a few minutes. Oh I almost forgot I took Blaze with me on a deliver one time shortly after we got him left him in the car for a few minutes maybe 10 and he manage to chew the passenger's seat belt in two. I guess he was bored. I still haven't got it fixed the cost is rather high for such an old car. We used my Husbands car when we need to got somewhere together. |

| I take Maya with me almost everywhere, at least where dogs are allowed access. I'd have to say that my favorite places to take her are outdoor, dog- friendly music festivals! We have several relatively local ones that I took her to this past summer/ early fall, once she was fully vaccinated. They included: Camp Jam in the Pines (Old Cedar Campground, Monroeville, NJ), Bear's Picnic (Lincoln Park, Laurelton, PA), and Stir Fry Music Revival (Mountain View Park, Wind Gap, PA). All were under 3 hours driving distance to get to from where I live. It was such a blast for Maya and myself... tent camping, great music and performers, vendors of all sorts (food, clothing, jewelry, musical instruments, etc), and of course lots of doggies to play with!! Just a forewarner though, these are "hippie" type gatherings and there tends to be loud, partying people at night.. definitely not a place to bring your dog if they are easily startled by loud noises. All in all, my favorite was probably Camp Jam in the Pines, because there was a lovely little creek running through the park with places to hike and explore, which Maya really enjoyed!

| i *think* kiba likes going out with us. Whenever we head towards the SUV she starts wagging her tail and trying to get into the back so i take it that she's realized we go fun places when she gets into the car. So far though we only go to the local walking trails, the vet, and the dog park. I'm thinking id like to just have her along for errands and stuff like a lot of you mentioned just to get her out of the house. she doesnt like being by herself at home and i don't like leaving her in the crate but at her age, its what we gotta do when we leave.

| Malfoy stays home while I work but after that everywhere I go so does he. I just learned that he is welcome at the local Lowe's which is good because I am remodeling a house with the intent to be husky friendly. He greatly seems to enjoy the car and going on rides. He goes right to the passenger door once I open it and puts his little paws up on the frame while he waits for me to lift him in. Once in he sits up in the seat for a moment before curling up and laying down. I have a doggie seatbelt for him as well which I recommend investing in. |

| My dogs only come to pet stores with me, but right now I only take one at a time, it's way too much if I'm going in to go shopping. |

| I try to take Bella with me whenever I can, mostly it's to pet stores but if I'm visiting family and they don't mind I'll take her with me. I need to check on the Home Depot near me to see if they let pets in there. If they do that will be good as I can take her christmas shopping with me when I look for stuff for my dad. No I just have to get my local wargame store to allow my dog then I can get back into that and still be with my dog |

| I saw from another post that you and I (Kibahope) are in the same town! Yay! We don't know many other huskies in this area! We need to meet at the dog park. I haven't been in a while...the mud is horrible. We always go to Pet Craze, Sabaka likes that store. I saw a poodlish thing in a cart at Kroger the other day. I think going to grocery stores is not right. I can't remember if we've taken him to Home Depo or not... We used to take him to the soccer fields at the Jump Park, but they recently banned dogs (odd since the county has no leash laws and any number of unleashed dogs can wander through...). Being in a small town, we don't have many options.

| i take blu just about everywhere with me. to wawa for a pack of smokes, ice cream parlor, work (when im working somewhere that its ok for him to be there... cant bring him right now and he isn't happy about it), home depo (although there's only one home depo around here that will allow me to bring him inside other's arn't dog friendly in my area), pet smart, the florist, true value hardware store, the beach (only in the winter... dogs arn't allowed on beaches over here in the summer).
oddly enough i have yet to take him to a dog park, still trying to find one in my area thats decent.
Blu does extremely well in the car, when i get out he moves over to the drivers seat, looks out the window for a minuet then lays down and takes a nap. he's always been good in the car though. |

| We take Loki on quick car trips to the grocery store, Wawa, to get gas. We asked him if he wants to go for a ride and his tail wags like there is no tomorrow. For walks we walk him down by the Occuoquan river which is about 10 min drive from where we live, to the park to walk trails or just around the lake in our neighborhood. We pretty much only go to stores that he is allowed in which consist of pet shops and outdoor area of resturants ( Loki's favorite place is the custard shop right next to the petsmart) We also visit family and friends. |
