This story has several words that will resonate on this forum:
"siberian husky" and "escape."

If you haven't micro chipped your dog, after reading this story, you will.

She's really kind of being a spoiled...female dog about the whole thing. I mean, I understand why it distresses her, but it is so obviously not her dog and the case is overwhelmingly against her.

That spoiled little brat is what happens when parents can't say no to their kids. She sounds like she's never been held accountable for anything in her life, and can't grasp the "what you're doing is illegal" thing. I hope the guy gets his dog back, and I'm so glad all of our fur kids are chipped.

Selfish girl. Glad he ended up back with the rightful owner. I feel bad because my best friend did this with a dog. He found a dog in his neighborhood, he checked every house there, put up fliers, called shelters, but nobody came for her. So he ended up keeping her (not following the official channels to make it "legal"), but he hasn't had an issue with a former owner yet. I think I'm gonna be having a talk with him about go through the proper channels now lol.

Cautionary Tale about Importance of Micro Chipping Empty
PostSubject: Re: Cautionary Tale about Importance of Micro Chipping   Cautionary Tale about Importance of Micro Chipping EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 3:11 pm

We found a black cat no tags, skin & bones once. We brought him him, feed him, cleaned off the fleas, got him check out - etc. He was clearly someones cat because it wasn't afraid of the vacuum and was litter trained. We asked around and noone knew where this cat came from. We had that cat for 2 months when out the blue I found an old newspaper with a "Missing my cat" I called the name and sure enough it was him. We called that owner and had her verify a few markings he had (burn marks on his head & face) just so we knew it wasn't a scam. When we brought him in the room there was no question that cat knew her and she was in tears. He had been lost of 6-7 months. Point of the story: She knew that dog was his. A dog/cat knows their pack member no matter how much time has been lost.
I also found a white dog wondering the woods when I was 14. Luckily his one had a tag on it and when we called the "If lost..." number they were shocked. The family had moved and the dog escaped the new yard 2 weeks ago and traveled somewhere between 75-100 miles to get back to the first home it knew. Point of this story: There are good people out there that will return your dog.

So glad he got is dog back. We got Loki microchiped from the breeder and even though he has name tags in abundance it gives me that little bit of comfort if he were ever to get loose. Best 40 bucks spent.

I am glad the dog is back at his rightful owner.. I have a question if they could spend so much money to in lawyer fees to keep the dog why didn't she spend that money to get her own dog and let him have his dog.

My thoughts exactly. If you can drop 30K+ on this lawsuit for this dog, why couldn't you just go get another? I understand the bond you form, but it's clearly his dog. The dog obviously loves him (jumping out of a car for him...umm hello red flag). Let them be happy, and you can find another "service dog" that I don't think she even used.

Well based on info from the article, she probably thought she was above the law and could do whatever she wanted. Such a brat.

Pretty sure mommy reinforced that behavior, did you see the comment at the very end? Totally blamed it on the guy.

You wouldn't have shared that moment if you had followed the law.
