Doubt on my Siberian Husky. Empty
PostSubject: Doubt on my Siberian Husky.   Doubt on my Siberian Husky. EmptySun Apr 03, 2016 6:42 am

Hi,

It's been a year since my dad bought a Siberian Husky, but I've never heard he howled, not even once. I don't know why he barked instead of howling.

His conditions, live in a cage (My dad always insists to put him in the cage, outside the house) and live alone (though we own Pomeranian, P.S. he does not live in a cage and inside the house). I believe my dad insists to put him in the cage because he thinks that Reyko (the Siberian Husky's name) will mussed things around because Reyko is very energetic.

Is it because he's so stressed, therefore he never realized that he can howl? (though he loves to play everytime I let him out, but sometimes he's bored to death, once there was a day when he mimic a dead dog, I almost cried when see him lying like a dead dog when I called his name and did not move an inch, this made me worried.).

I really hope that he can at least howled once.

Not all of them howl - mine will "talk" to me but does not howl. Even though I've tried by howling to him.

That's sad about the cage - how often does he get out? Does he get to run in a safe place at all?

They don't always howl. My Red only howls if she's extremely excited and will do it to express her joy. If Reyko is spending more time alone in his cage than with his humans, then he is likely depressed. Huskies (like most dogs) require lots of human interaction. Is your dad's yard fenced in at all so that Reyko doesn't have to be caged all the time while outside? How often does Reyko get to be outside of his cage so that he can play and exercise?

Thats really sad about him living his life in a cage! Huskies can get depressed, it could be just because Reyko isn't happy. They are very energetic dogs and need lots of exercise. Is there a way you can not have him stay in a cage? If so, the happier the husky, the more it will share its love and maybe talk to you.

Literally the only time I hear Suka howl is when I've just gotten home from work and I can hear him through the wall of my house. Other than that, I can't get him to howl, not even when he was around other Huskies that were howling. I even tried playing YouTube videos of Huskies and wolves howling to encourage it in him, but no luck. He also doesn't bark. What he does do is talk. A lot. It's very cute. I'd love to hear him howl more but have resigned myself that it may never happen.

The only time Zhukov howls is when I put him in the crate.... Seriously though, this post breaks my heart. I really hope that he isn't spending his life in a cage and only being let out from time to time.

My dog never barks or howls or talks. She only whines. Occasionally, she will let out a yip if we aren't paying attention to her and she needs to go out. It sounds like your dog spends a lot of time confined. He needs to be let out. I don't know of any type of dog that would be happy in that situation, and the barking could be from stress, displeasure, or an attempt to get attention.

My boy is 3 and has howled once by a fluke. Never again. He whines and will bark as well but never howls.
