He jumps up at me, talking and grumbling, throwing himself at me. If I don't move fast enough his intensity increases quite rapidly to the point he is nipping at my arms and hands. And here all this time I thought he was just being a violent, playful jerk. He had his first night in a new home last night and seems to be just fine with it. I was honestly expecting him to be freaked out by it despite the first two weeks I have had him, he hasn't been in the same home the entire time. It varied between my dads and boyfriends for the most part for sleeping. He goes everywhere I go though so surely new surroundings are something he is alright with at this point? Also in the new home, there is hard wood floor in my room, i only have a mattress and box spring down for now since I am getting a new bed and didn't want to clutter it up. The box spring is bigger than the mattress so it makes a stair way if you will. I am totally fine with him sitting on it with me, I set it up so he could and would be comfortable. Is it normal that he doesn't really go on the wood floor to play with him toys? He will play with his dragon and rope up here beside me but if I put them on the floor and set him down there it's game over and he comes back up on the bed beside me. The last one segways into this one, I read they are a very independent breed, for the most part at least. Mind you I spend most all my day with Malfoy so it probably has a hand in it. He doesn't really like to be alone though, which to me would be independence. Don't get me wrong, I love how my fur ball is a total mommy's boy and wants to be with me, it makes me feel loved. I just don't want to damage his personality I guess I am trying to get at? Should I be encouraging him to do his own thing? All his puppy teeth appear to be in now and what razor sharp little fangs they are. I have a busy bone for him, nyla bone, a stick that appears plastic to me but mimics real wood. He never really sits and gnaws any of them for long. Do your pets have something they can lay there and chew at for ages and be content? Do things like bones and other chew things (Think bully sticks, pig ears, etc) 'ruin' a dogs appetite or even make them feel full? Pardon all the random info/questions. I had so much I wanted to share and ask that I thought it could all be lumped together into training questions. You guys must get so annoyed with all my questions, I have so many! I am not sorry though.

I think the independence with Huskies is more you don't need to interact with them all the time. Bella doesn't always need me playing with her or interacting with her but she must know where I am at all time. For the chew every dog is different, the only things Bella lays and chews till they're done are marrow bones, filled hooves and pig ears, anything else she either doesn't chew at all or believes it is a fetch toy. All of those things would definately lower your dogs appetite, I've heard pig ears called the potato chip of the dog words in a puppy it would be noticable but I've never noticed with Bella, nothing stops her appetite. If you're concerned about it only let him chew for a little bit and then take it away.

I get it now, I was under the impression when I heard they were independent to not expect him to feel the desire to cuddle up with me. He can play alone, he is so content laying on the floor going from toy to toy but he has to have me sitting in a chair in the same room or it loses its appeal.

Yeah Huskies like to be in the center of it all but not AT the center of it all.

This might change with age as well. Puppies stick close.
