I attract stray/loose dogs Empty
PostSubject: I attract stray/loose dogs   I attract stray/loose dogs EmptyTue May 18, 2010 4:01 pm

So I get a call from Ken at like 6:30am bout seeing a loose husky in our neighborhood and I yelled at him for not trying to get it. Well I did my work out and at like 7:50ish I got the dogs and we went on our short walk. I figured the dog was long gone by this time but I still kept my eyes open for it. We come around the corner towards our main road and the 2 start to go crazy and I think the dog is nearby but it's not just a lady walking a baby in a stroller. Well we get closer to our turn and there is the HUSKY across the street. I try whistling and it just looks at us. Then I try to call it and I can tell its thinking about it. Well a bus is coming down the road now just as the husky is crossing and he makes it across just in time. He seems nice and I am able to grab its collar and I'm wondering how I'm getting it home, I hook sierra and jack to the same leash, and hook this one to the other. Then a lady comes walking to me and tells me she lost her B&W husky as well and hands me a flyer and thanks me for picking this one up and to let her know if I find hers. We get to the house and I put the husky in the dog run and let my 2 run the yard just in case something would happen with the new dog and the 2 of them. The dog has an ID tag but it was so old you could not see anything on it, it had a rabies tag from 09 with a phone number and the ID info so I called and the lady looked up the women's info and called her and let her know I would be calling with her dog. I call and the lady said thanks for getting him I have to wake my kids and we will be over. At this point I had given the dog water and some food and it had gone for a swim in our lake so I hosed it off cause it smelled and let him run around with sierra and jack. He seed timid with jack like he did not play without dogs much but he did ok. He was really sweet tried licking my face and was following me around, I would have given him more love if he was not all wet. The lady and kids show up outside and she says so you have a husky and I say I have 2 and she then asks me if I want another! ( in my head I'm thinking I should have kept the dog!) I walk them to the back yard and she starts telling me that he keeps jumping the fence and digging out and they put him out on a lead and he just cries the whole time,(it made my heart break). She said the husband is tired of him getting out and that they have had Rocky for 7yrs and she could not get rid of him, but she has no idea what to do. I showed her the crates ours stay in and the dog run we have but she did not think it would work. It turns out I did know this husky as we passed him every time we walked the loop by our house, I always felt so bad for him as he was always on the side of the home in a makeshift dog run just laying there looking sad, they just moved across the lake and I guess he keeps getting out and coming back over to his old home. I told her about Polaris husky rescue if she really wanted to let him go they would find him a good home. I feel really bad knowing he is going back to that house to be tied up and not taken care of the way he should be, I don't think they let him in the house much. He was fixed and still had his back dew claws that were just hanging there looking to get stuck on something and walked really well on the leash. Why do dogs always end up with me looking for their owners only to find out that they would be more loved else were?
well here are some pictures of Rocky for the short time he was at our home.

That would be too many sleds. It's definitely too soon to get another, and I'm kind of shying away from rescue/adopt anymore. Sure looks like a happy fella though.
