2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! We are going back and forth of doing this. So I have to get maggie's expressed every month since she was 5 months old. It is really bad sometimes.

I was wondering if anyone has ever done this or deal with it at this extent with a larger breed dog.

My vet offers to do the surgery but I dunno if I want to do it.

no not at all. I might just deal with expressing every month. I want to know the pros and cons first.

The only downside of the surgery is that she'll have stitches in two spots around her anus. After 10-14 days everything should be all healed up. She'll definitely be sore. It Kale had that, I'd, personally, get them removed instead of waiting around for an anal gland abscess that would need a huge drain tube for 5 days. I can't imagine flushing a drain tube on Kale's butt pale

I'd also get it removed, anal gland abscesses are horrible and very common when you're getting them expressed that often. Poor Maggie Sad

I don't much about this, but I would have them removed. Luckily, my boys never have had a problem.
