2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. I found a Lump Empty
PostSubject: I found a Lump   I found a Lump EmptyTue Jan 29, 2013 7:28 pm

So this afternoon I went home to feed and check on my dogs. As I was feeding Karma I started petting under her chest just to see if her milk dried up yet, and as I was doing this I felt a large golf ball size lump. (She hasn't fed puppy for 2 weeks now) It wasn't anywhere near her nipple. It felt like it was a cyst, or some kind of fluid filled ball. I also checked to see if there was a cut or bite of some sort, but there was nothing. When I touched it, it didn't seem to bother her. I've never felt this on her before so I'm a bit worried. I immediately called my vet and scheduled an appt next wednesday.

It didn't seem to bother Karma...I think it bothers me more. What could this possibly be?

Hard to say. Make sure the vet aspirates it with a needle to make sure what it is. I don't trust any vet that just feels it and is adamant that it is "soandso". Always have them look at the cells under the microscope. Hoping it is nothing serious!!

That happened with my chihuahua...I was rubbing her belly and noticed she had a squishy lump and freaked out! Took her to the vet and they used a needle to aspirate it and check under the scope to make sure it isn't cancerous. Most of the time they are lipomas that are benign fatty tumors and as long as they don't grow or seem to bother your fur baby there is nothing to worry about Smile

Best wishes to you and Karma, please keep us updated I love you

Thank You..I will keep you all updated.

I hope it's not serious! It's going to be a really tough week though for me....I hate playing the waiting game. My vet scheduled her appt at the same time as my puppy, so that's why it's not til next wed. Hurry up next Wednesday!!!!

I hope you get in sooner. My mother in laws dog had this and it was breast cancer. I found a lump on my dog, Faith, and it turned out to be a fatty lump. My guinea pig sow also had a lump and it was a cyst. Fingers crossed for you!

Mammary tumors/cancer top the list as the number one reasons females dogs pass on. That's why when the "spay/neuter" threads come up it is always pointed out that if you spay prior to the second heat the chances for the tumors/cancer is lessened (near zero percent before the first and then a slight increase if done before the second).

I hope it's nothing more than a fatty deposit and nothing more comes from it! fingers crossed!

Oh that's so terrible!!!

I pray and hope it's just some fatty deposit.
Karma's going to get spayed very soon. I'm so scared for her.
