| Looking for some advice. Situation: 10 week old female Husky Work 7-5 Can usually make it home from lunch, but not always
Have: 8x8x6 outdoor kennel inside crate completely empty 300 sq ft room.
RIght now: 4:30 Waking up and bringing puppy to pee/poop immediately back in for water and food 6:00 out for some exercise (2o min) 6:45 crate 12:15PM bringing puppy to pee/poop immediately back in for food/water and food 12:20PM out for some exercise (10-2o min) 12:45PM crate 5:00PM Waking up and bringing puppy to pee/poop immediately back in for water and food 5:30PM outside kennel 6:00PM out for some exercise (2o-30 min) 8:00 PM crate for night
Problem: with the exception of night time, she's peeing when in crate. So mid morning and mid afternoon.
I realize it's not her problem with the peeing due to her age and bladder size. This is why I'm here. Any suggestions/ideas to make this better for our girl??? |

| Like you said, she's still young and it is a little long for her in the crate probably. How do you have the crate set up? Does she have a lot of extra room? A lot of people will put their puppy in a big crate with a "bed" area and more of an open area because they feel like it is too small. But that gives them a place where they can pee and then a separate place to sleep. A healthy dog will do it's best not to soil it's sleeping area, so if you have a large crate, try buying a divider and see how that works. |

| My first question is how big is the crate she is in? If it is too big she will pee in the crate because she won’t have to lay down in it. She should have just enough room to turn around and lay down.
Second, when do you let her drink water? If she drinks a lot and goes right back in the crate for the morning she won’t be able to hold it. Best to let her drink first thing when she is out in the morning to give her time to pee it out before going back in.
Also, it might be that her bladder is just too small still. Generally speaking they can hold it for 1 hour per month of age plus 1. So if she is just over 2 months old, she can hold it about 3-3 1/2 hours.
My schedule is pretty similar to yours. Mine go in their crate at around 8am until noon, and again from 1pm until about 4:30-5:00

| All things make puppies pee, if she's exercising or eating right before being crated... a bowel is most likely going to take place. Space in the crate is also a factor.
What I would do is potty, feed, out to potty, crate, exercise, potty, crate, potty and then leave. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| thank you everyone for your replies! I really pushed the water early this morning and stopped at 5. I also moved the separator in her crate to make it much smaller. Fingers crossed! |
