Freya has gone from a perfect not-so-little girl, to a brat. In the last week she has eaten 4 cushions, destroyed them completlely, ripped all the stuffing out of them to make the house look like it's snowed, she's chewed on the boys toys, destroyed their dress ups. And now she's even started having some food agression with the cats.

She is 9 months old today (Happy 9 months baby girl!) and even though she's still a beautiful girl who is the apple of my eye, she has been behaving badly. I thought I had her well trained not to chew things, that she knew the difference between what she can nad cannot destroy.

It started a few months ago when she ate the face off her own toy bunny. It was completelly out of character for her, but I didnt think much of it because it was her toy. She kept the destruction issolated to her toys, but it was when she destroyed a toy she has had since the day we brought her home that I knew something was up.

Now nothing is sacred!

Is she in the teenage years or has she just turned into a little cow?
How can I get her out of it? I tell her a stern 'NO' and put her in time out when ever she behaved inappropriatelly, but it doesnt seem to be working.

Please help me save my house!

She has DEFINITELY entered her teen years lol.

Alpine is the same way. He's just over 10months old and within the last 3 weeks, he's put a hole in the wall next to his crate and I've caught him chewing on the kitchen chairs twice! Only things he's ever destroyed was his toys (which I'm fine w/ bc they are his). So I'm guessing he's definitely hitting his teenage "years". Good luck

Maybe she needs some more indestructible toys lol. I've also heard of dogs that love to rip and shred things, so maybe keep a cardboard box handy when she hits that mood, those are pretty disposable and don't even make TOO much of a mess when she's done lol!

Oh yeah, she's totally hit that stage. Don't take it personally . Sheba is getting close to her 9 month birthday, and I'm panicking already. She is already a pretty destructive little gal. So we have been working even harder on proofing some of her commands. The only advice I have is to laugh it off and start husky proofing as much as you can .

I just gotta say there's a reason huskies enter the shelters during their teens. Not much of a surprise shes acting this way. I'd look into some interactive toys and bump up her exercise intake, the more mental stimulation and exercise she gets I'd say the more likely she is to behave at home.

Do you do a lot of training games with her? Like hide and seek type of games?? I find training games tire them out just as well as a walk will.

Since I haven't been walking/running Yuki as shes been too young and I don't want to damage her muscles, I've been doing a lot of these games with Yuki. Her favorite one is when I hide ten different balls that are all the same except for ONE different colored ball, and she gets an extra special reward if she finds the different colored one first. It's amazing how smart she is!

I got Blaze when he had just turn 9 months old and he chewed up a couple pillows and a lot of his toys after we got him he was probably pretty tame compare to some huskies.

Kerian was 2 years old at least when we got her from the shelter and she really has not chew any thing up. She does dig still alot if I let her in the yard.

When Saphire hit this stage, I increased her activity by adding an additional walk and I made sure to buy a lot of bones and hooves for her to chew on. This and some husky proofing did wonders for my sanity. Just some suggestions. Good Luck!

I've got toys for her that are almost like doggy board games, they challange her to find treats under the little cup things. I give her her kong, but she isnt much interested in it anymore.
