| I took the girls out on my bike and had Maya near the side of the bike so she wouldn't have to worry about it hitting her. She likes to randomly stop or cross over so she's been hit (gently) a couple times with the front wheel. I made it around the corner of the road that my house is on and Maya starts really freaking out so i stop and she just lays down in the grass pouting and unmovable. Then she starts backing up and starts rearing and jerking and slips her harness off. She immediately bolts down the sidewalk and into peoples yards. I freak out and knowing i won't be able to catch her with Kay and Sophie dragging me everywhere and a bike so i call my sister so she can come help, hopefully bring some treats or a toy. Maya comes running back and sniffs some bushes near the house i was at. She then goes up to the door of that house and stands there wanting to be let in. So i go up there and she just paws at the door wanting me to open it and i put her harness back on. There were dogs barking behind the door so that's probably what she smelled and why she went to the door. The lady that lives there opens her blinds and asks if everything was okay, i told her what happened and she puts her dogs away. My sister then comes speeding up on her bike all prepared to chase down Maya when she see's i already have her back. So i tell Her to take Maya back and she leaves her bike there and takes Maya home. Then the lady comes out of her garage asking if there is anything she can do to help. I told her that my sister is taking Maya back. She then says she can put our bikes in her driveway while we walk them back so i give her my sister's bike to put there. The guy that lives across from her comes out of his garage to ask if he can do anything to help. They wanted to know if i needed help walking them back to my house, guess it looked like i was being dragged all over the place by them. I tell them that i'm going to take these two (Kay and Sophie) out on my bike because they really need to run. The guy then says he has two that i could take out for a run after i'm done with my two, lol. So my sister then comes back and gets her bike while i thank them for their help. I really hope i wasn't too awkward or not talkative with them, i'm not great at talking to people and being in panic mode about Maya doesn't help much. I really love the neighborhood we live in, I've only had one bad experience with someone and that was over my brother crashing into a stop sign. He was being a jerk about it and he's not very nice, though his wife is nice at least the last time i talked to her she was. Anyway the neighborhood we live in is very dog friendly, almost everyone has one or two dogs and a couple people own huskies. I was so happy that people came out to help me. |

| WOW! I'm glad it wasn't TOO dramatic. You seem like you have a pretty great neighborhood and I am quiet jealous of that! |

| I'm so glad nothing bad happened. Maya is also the fastest out of the three so i know i could never catch her. She's gotten loose twice so far out of the 4 years I've had her. The first time was when the back gate was open, i went outside to call her back in and she was no where to be found. I called her name and she cam running out from the trees in our neighbors yard and runs back into yard with the happiest look on her face. I'm so glad she's stayed in the area when she gets loose rather then running and running and running then just getting lost or worse. |

| Oh man.. that would give me a fricken heart attack. Kennedy slipped her collar right next to the highway and I was crying as I was trying to keep her in the back side of the houses instead of her running into the highway. It was the scariest 10 minutes of my life. Once she gets free, she takes advantage of it. The only reason I caught her was because she was too busy sniffing and I tackled her and caught her by her tail. I didn't stop crying the whole 6 blocks home. When they get loose it's the worst thing ever. |

| I know what you mean, i break down after it happens. I just remembered one time when she shattered her choker chain and got loose. She was pouncing around all happy she was loose so I made it into a game that she likes to play, she plays it when she doesn't want to be caught. I'll jump towards her and she runs off a little bit and i run after her and stop, she runs towards me and right by me. Then i run away and she chases me and then i catch her. I'd rather her play the come catch me game and keep her attention on me rather then run off somewhere. We are luckily kinda far from busy roads but if she really ran for it she may get to springvalley which is a really busy road. |

| I tried that too and it almost worked! But my boyfriend was walking Sheba who was having a swear a heart attack, so Kennedy took off towards her instead of chasing me. If Sheba wouldn't of been dieing, the whole ordeal would have been over a lot faster. And me crying hysterically didn't help either. I just saw her running across the highway and her getting ran over. So I was my own worst enemy in that case.
When Sheba was starting to get to the point where she couldn't be trusted off leash the come and get me game was my saving grace with her. |

| Awh, you two are lucky. Yuki's a freaking brat, she'd just run far away. She doesn't have a care in the world about me. Which is why I bought martingale collars ~~ So sorry that happened Abby, hopefully Maya will learn to love the bike with time. |

| Yeah, I bought a martingale after Kennedy slipped a regular collar. They are amazing little devices. |

| For biking, I'd look at getting a harness that has a belly band- Ruffwear's Webmaster/omnijore or getting a custom xback. Much more secure! Nothing makes your heart stop like your husky getting away! |

When Sheba was starting to get to the point where she couldn't be trusted off leash the come and get me game was my saving grace with her. I have this reoccurring nightmare about Maya getting run over by a hummer and it's horribly graphic. I break down crying every time i have it. |

I have custom xbacks on back order right now, can't wait! We ordered them about 6 weeks ago but i know it's very busy right now, i don't mind waiting. |

| I might just take Maya out on the scooter instead of my bike, she's not scared of the scooter. But i like the brakes on my bike, i used to take her out on my razor scooter but now she's a lot stronger. I also fell off the scooter a lot...
I might get Kay a martingale, she freaked out when i tried to put a prong collar on her so I've just been walking her with an easy walk harness. But it's annoying when she keeps stepping over the leash and i'd rather have collars for walking and harnesses for pulling. |

| I use a Halti head harness for Sheba. I don't agree with prong or choke collars, so I try to find other means of walking. If it works for you though, then that's swell..but there are lots of other options out there.
I tried a harness that clipped in the front and back that worked for while, but not very well. I then used a semi choke collar on Sheba that worked until she started pulling too hard that she would make herself through up. I highly recommend a head harness. |

| I tried a head harness on Maya but she would constantly pull it off or roll around in the grass or the floor. She'd also rub all over people who came up to pet her trying to get it off. With the prong after stopping and turning around a lot she doesn't pull at all on it. Sophie is a work in progress, I might just get martingale collars for all of them at some point. Just don't know if they're as strong as prong collars.
I was against prong collars too until i read up on them more, choke collars i'm against. |

| I don't recommend the halti personally. I just don't like how many people have had neck issues after using it. But whatever works to each his own I personally use the semi-slip/martingale, Yuki doesn't have any issues with it and its perfect for her Cloud uses it too, but he is a very large puller so sometimes I use a non-pull harness, not the easy walk but something similar. |

| I tried the halti and the canny collar for Maya, she pulled like a freight train with the canny. |

| I think the problem with head harnesses is that people still give leash pops not thinking about the fact that the leash is attached to the pups head!! If I see people using a head harness and they give leash pops, I always TRY to educate them on the dangers they are putting their dogs in. Hopefully I can get Sheba to the point where a semi choke is okay for her to use again. That was my favorite device? I guess that I used.

| Hm what's the Canny? I haven't ever heard of it! I have also tried a Monster Walker with her. When she fills out a little bit I think it will be better. The Monster is a leash that has one end with a metal circle on the end and the other has the grip and the clip. The clip and handle go through the circle that you put around her waist and the leash extends up her spine and connects to the collar. It's a very different device, but she is way too tiny for it to work properly. |

| I just use the generic petsmart harness the ones for like $12, and as long as they are adjusted correctly neither jade or Luka has been able to get out. I take them biking with them on and they pull and whatnot and Luka has gone ballistic in his trying to get rabbits and never has been able to get out of it.
I wouldnt use these harnesses for bikejoring but for walks and just running beside the bike and not puling it does great for me. |

Pretty sure it's when someone jerks hard on the leash to stop the dog from pulling. At least that's how i interpreted it. |

| That's exactly it. Like if Sheba were to be pulling on the leash, if I yelled "NO!" and yanked on the leash really quick to give her whiplash, that would be a leash pop. |
