| Before I begin, Kingsley is is 10 weeks and 1 day old today. We've had him for a week and a half. We've had him on a strict schedule of potty breaks every 2 hours. Even in the middle of the night, we'll wake him up to carry him out and he'll pee immediately. This isn't to say that he hasn't had accidents. He's had a max of two accidents/day, and several days without any at all! Our struggle with the potty training is that he doesn't voluntarily let us know that he needs to go. If we didn't carry him out, he'd go wherever. The last few days have been rough. I've been working my 8 hour shifts while my husband is enjoying the last few days of his holiday break before his classes start up again. Dave has said that keeping Kingsley engaged throughout the day is exhausting. On top of the biting and nipping, Kingsley still only going potty if we suggest it (by calling him to the mud room, putting a leash on him, and taking him out). David & Kingsley Anyway, today I came home from work, and David was on the floor working with Kingsley. Before Kingsley could get all excited that I was home, David had him sit, down, and UP! I was ASTONISHED! We had never taught him down before and my husband was able to do it in a day! I know it doesn't take super long to teach tricks like that, but after the hellish day we had with him yesterday, I just fell to my knees and gave Kingsley all the hugs and kisses. We then gave him his first bath with us (he had two prior with the breeder). He did AMAZING! No jumping, no whining, no crying, he just let it happen to him. David held his KONG toy to his mouth while I poured water over him, lathered him up with shampoo, rinsed, and dried him. He didn't even shake out his coat. It was awesome. Kingsley's first bath with us. Later on in the evening, the three of us were hanging out in the living room, and he wandered off to the hallway (when we call him, he usually comes back), but he didn't. When I got up to go get him, he was sitting by the front door, and he scratched at it! (!!!!!!!!!!!!) We put on his leash (where he sat still), and I opened the door, he waited for me to exit first. And then he did #1 AND #2 IMMEDIATELY! He did it again a few hours later. I've never been more proud! It's been a great day for my 10 week old baby. Thank you to EVERYONE who has read and commented on my posts offering all their suggestions. This forum is AMAZING. |

Thanks! Haha, whenever he starts to act up and my husband starts to visibly get frustrated, I always go up to Kingsley and say in a ridiculous baby voice "ITS OK YOURE JUST A BABY YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!" and proceed to love and hug and kiss him, haha. |

| I loved it when the training just "clicked" in if you will, made things just go smoother from that point forward, even though we are now in the teenager phase and it seems like his obedience training has escaped him...lol.
Keep it up and congrats to you both! |
