| I started with just a collar on my puppy but we started using a harness because he would roam a lot on walks so it was better on his neck. At first we just put it on during walks, but the past week or so we've just left it on all the time. He would occasionally chew on it the first day or so but has stopped doing that. My questions is, is it ok to leave it on him all the time?
Thanks! |

| You can, I did with my girl Cali, but you take a risk of destruction like another one of mine did. It just depends on the dog really, best of luck though |

| I left mine on my girl the whole time - she didnt mind it a bit. But she was sooooooo laid back, like my vet said, she is like no husky he had ever seen I liked it for security reasons too (something to grab onto if she ever got out) , although i did make sure it was fairly tight, because she was crated sometimes, and I didnt want any accidents/ strangling, in her crate in case she did partially get out of it .... but I think it does depend on the dog. |

| Thanks for all the responses, like eluke's husky, he is very very laid back so maybe that's why he's ok with it. |

| Alki has his harness and his collar on all the time. His harness doesn't bother him a bit (but we also put it on the day he came home at 7 weeks). The tags on his collar bother him though. He always tries to catch them. Haha. |

| Luna was wearing her Easy Walk harness all the time until she was about 6 months old, which is when we stopped because she chewed herself out of her second one! And those things aren't cheap. She would get bored and it would be right there, since the majority of the East Walk hangs down in the front where she can reach. At $30-$40 each (depending on size), it's worth the extra 10 seconds to put the harness on her each time we go outside. Plus, it's part of her training that she has to sit to get her harness, which means time for a walk. But whatever works for you and your pup... I would say as long as it's not tight and the pup doesn't mind it, it shouldn't make a difference. When I asked the lady at Petco when we first bought it, she said "Absolutely never ever leave it on unless you're walking her" but I don't see a lot of validity to that. |

| I kept Saphire in one all the time until she was about 6 months old. Then she figured out how to get it off and chewed it to shreds. Went out and bought another harness, tried to get it on as tight as was comfortable, two weeks later she figured out how to get it off and chewed it to shreds. Went out and bought a third harness, put it on as tight as was comfortable, watched like a hawk, caught her rubbing up against corners to catch the harness and pulling until it was loose enough to slip out of. Went and bought a leather collar. End of problems.
Just want to point out that just because you are not having problems now doesn't mean you won't in the future. It may be worth your sanity to just train the pup to let you put it on for walks and take it off at home. Just my 2 cents. |

| I used to leave Bella in her harness all the time and then one day she decided harnesses were for suckers and would chew off her harness if we left it on her. I got an Alpine harness after her fourth one in two weeks because they give you a lifetime warrenty that applies even when chewed. My advise, don't chance it especially if you have a nice expensive one, we mostly got cheap ones but seeing the kong one with the nice plastic chest gaurd shred was really a sad day. |
