| We've had Kingsley for 1 week now, and he is unlike any dog I've ever had.
He is 9.5 weeks and SO FREAKING WEIRD!
1. He doesn't like treats. I've tried like 3 different types and he's so indifferent. 2. He doesn't cry in his crate EVER. Not at night. Not during the day. Ever. 3. He doesn't like being outside. As soon as he does his business, he runs to the front door and sits to be let in (without me making him sit). I have to literally pick him up and carry him back to the yard several times before he realizes he needs to poop. Sometimes he'll just sit there and shiver. 4. He doesn't get excited when I'm all COME ON LETS GO LETS GO, slapping my leg and trying to intrigue him. He'll just sit there and stare at me like I'm crazy. 5. He's pretty calm all day long, except for when we come in from a potty break. Then he gets the zoomies and will run, slip, and slide into walls and couches. No other time does he exhibit these crazy bouts of energy, except for when we bring him inside and unclip his leash.
Everything else is pretty normal. Incessant biting. tormenting the cat, etc.

| He's still getting used to his new home. He got pulled away from his momma and siblings and is adjusting to you as his family. Don't worry, he will come out of his shell. And Bode didn't really like being outside either until recently, he's 9 months. The weather change also may have had something to do with that though. |

| First off welcome, he is adorable. I am sure he is not weird.
1. Some huskies are not very food motivated, you will just have to find something that excites him. 2. As for the crate, count yourself lucky, most cry their heads off the first few day. Mine was not too bad, he only really cried the first night. I hope that continues, the more he likes his crate the better.
3. I am sure he will come to enjoy the outside more and more, it is probably all new to him and he just needs to get used to it. I wish Char would spend less time outside, he loves the winter weather.
4. Maybe he is just a laid back dog.
5. At this age Char slept a lot. He would be full of energy and mischief for a short time and then he would crash and sleep for hours.
Don't worry, just when you think you have figured him out he will probably change. |

| 1. He may have never seen a treat before and thus doesn't understand what it means. Karli had no clue what I was trying to give her and with her puppy teeth she could barely chew them. It tooks weeks before she actually took to them. Try other foods, carrots are big hit here and so is popcorn (but that's given sparingly, we usually just hit the tin and she comes running.)
2. Did the breeder crate train him? This may have something to do with him not having an issue. Or he's scared and not sure what to think yet. It took Karli about a week to settle in fully.
3. Was he raised inside or outside? If raised inside, he might not understand how fun the outside can be so its up to you to show him. Also, he may not poop and pee all at once. Karli has to go out twice in the morning, once to pee then five minutes later to poop because she doesn't have to go at the same time for some weird reason lol.
4. He may not realize you want to play, try getting him interested in a toy to start. He's just a puppy so everything is very new to him.
5. As Charsmom said, puppies sleep a lot! Just wait til he gets bigger and has more energy, you're gonna miss the puppy naps!!! |

| Maya never cried in her crate, she hates them but never complains (she doesn't have one now). She's also pretty laid back inside the house, well when we didn't have Sophie or Kay. Sophie hated being outside as a pup and still doesn't really like it much. She prefers it if i or the other girls be out with her.
I think he's probably just still getting used to his new environment. |

| Koda (ive had him home for about a week now too and he is 9 weeks).. Is different than kingsley.. Koda loves!!!!!! The snow!!! He will just lay in it and burry his head in it.. The last couple days though the snow has been melting and he still tries to find a spot of it to play in when i tale him out to potty... Maybe kingsley will learn to like outside.. Did the breeder keep her inside most of the time? She might not be to use to being cold.. Koda was kept outside with his mom in the kennel and brought in occasinly for play.. About the crate though..... Your lucky lol!!! Koda isnt to bad but he whines when i put him in or a while unless he is tired he will just fall asleep.. The worst is when he wakes up at night, i take him out then he wants to play.. But its to early so i put him back on them he just whines constantly!! Then falls asleep after 20min.. Soo congras on that lol.. Treats maybe try like little pieces of lunch meat... Koda loves them.. And then koda also just stares at me sometimes when i try to get him excited and slap my leg.. The look of "really dad, your a fool, i annt coming unless u got something for me lol" |

| i have had Maya for 11 days so far 2. the only time she throws a fit in her kennel is when i let my other dog out of her kennel and take her out first so she and have a little peace while she does her business. 3. Maya at first would do her stuff and then go sit on the steps wanting back inside. she is just now getting where she wants to stay out longer. 5. Maya is still pretty calm she hasn't had the case of the zoomies yet |

| I've had Anakin all of 4 hours and when it was time for bed I put him in and he barked barked barked. So I went out on a limb seeing as he was being crated by his breeder, and took him out to potty. Bingo! He went we came back in and he curled up in his kennel to play with his toy. So I'm gonna take a guess and say the crate thing is something the breeder might have done. As for the outside thing, Anakin seems to like outside he runs into the garden beside my steps to play xD. |

| 1. He may not know what treats are yet, or you may have not found one he likes yet. Kennedy loves any and all food and she did from the get go. Sheba on the other hand, looked at me like I was crazy when I first started to treat train her. She liked Iams puppy biscuits much to my displeasure at first. After she started realizing how yummy and awesome working for treats was, she learned to love them all and I could finally give her the healthy treats I wanted to give her. So maybe you need to start out with the crappy treats and work your way up from there like I had to. 2. You should totally count yourself lucky. Sheba cried for the first month NON STOP for the first month. I am quiet jealous . 3. Depending on where he spent most of his time growing up as a puppy, He may not be as comfortable outside as he is inside. I would take him out for a few minutes at a time and just make it as fun as possible for him. Don't make him feel like he is under any kind of pressure, if you know what I mean? Like make it fun for him and just see what happens. Don't just take him out when he has to potty. Take him out for random fun times. 4. He probably has no idea what you want or what you are expecting him to do. Just give him time it'll all be okay. He probably is thinking you are crazy at this point . 5. Puppies always get random zoomies, as do adults. My foster standard poodle was like that as well, he was like always comatose, then randomly he would swing his bear claws all over the place and get the whole gang all riled up and ready to play. Good luck and have fun . |

| Thanks guys. Even in the 2 days that I've posted this, his personality is changing slightly.
He is getting very attitude-y. Like, when he comes in from being outside, no matter how much we try to play with him out there, with treats and toys and running around, he'll come inside and run around like a mad man, growling and barking. It sounds like he's being playful, but when we talk to him (no, sit, stay, down, come) he'll growl and bark at us. It's hard to tell whether he's playing or seriously throwing a fit.
Also, he's responding well to treats. I switched from a peanut butter based treat to a chicken one, and everything's changed. However, when he does a sit, and I reward him with a treat, he'll bite the hand that has a treat in it because he's trying to grab it himself. How do I make this stop!? |

| I have been working on teaching Sheba "nice". She too takes treats like a mad women. What I do is make her sit and then say good girl (to mark the sit) and then I say "nice" and I only have a portion of the treat sticking out of my hand and if she lunges for my hand I correct her and take the treat away. At this point in her training she is signal trained so whenever I go for the treats she sits right away anyway. She still has problems lunging, especially with new treats. So it is a never ending learning experience for her and me. |

Sounds like you have a talker on your hands. I wish Saphire talked more but when she does, it sounds more like a growl than anything playful. It was a little scary the first few times she did it but now I know that she is just talking to me. Still creeps out company. But I know it is just her way of communicating with me. As for the mouthyness. This is pretty normal for any puppy. Start training the "no teeth" or similar command. Then everytime your pup puts teeth to skin IMMEDIATELY walk away. They want to please and want to play so it doesn't take long for them to figure out that no teeth means no play!! |
