| Today I had to send my baby girl Sheeba on to a better place. What a hard thing to do!!!! I loved her so much!! She was such a sweet girl with a true husky personality. She was a rescue we picked up in Jacksonville NC. A couple were on their way to a husky rescue when they spotted our male in our backyard. We had her since and she was a complete joy to have. We had a few "hiccups" along the way but she had a good life. She was the only one who wouldn't run away while outside and was the only one I truly trusted around our children. I think a lot of that came from the fact that she was a rescue who passed from owner to owner before we got her and that she was truly grateful. There will never be another husky with her spirit and she will be missed. Poor Zeus has been looking for her this evening. The house just feels so empty. As I am typing this my big furry buddy has just flopped himself down in front of me and sighed. |

| So sorry for your loss. I just lost my girl a few weeks ago, I know how hard it is Here is a poem that helped me along the way.. By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together. |

| Thank you everyone for your kind words of support. Logically I know I made the right choice and that she is now pain free and awaiting the day until we can be together again but my heart is afraid I made the wrong choice!!! I could have had the fluid drained from around her heart and done intensive care and or therapy for her lower back but how much should I have put her through?? Even though this happened yesterday it still hurts terribly!! I know time will heal the wounds and I take comfort in our time together.
You know, when we were spending our time together before the vet came in with the meds I was crying in front of her, our faces facing each other and she just started licking me over and over. I pray that was her way of telling me that it was okay. It's nice to connect with others who get it.
Oh, and laura56083 thanks for the wonderful poem. It was indeed comforting. |
