So I finally bit the bullet and decided to tell my local husky rescue volunteer group that I would foster. They know me on a personal level and matched me with a perfect brother for Juneau! Meet Haku (don't know the pronounciation on that one yet), an 8-9 month old male Siberian Husky! I wanted to start the New Year off right!



The poor owners gave him up a few weeks ago because he was "too energetic". He was given to a 12 y/o boy as a puppy from his Dad. He plays well with other dogs in the daycare and is good with people. I am told that he needs to learn some manners so hopefully Juneau won't rebel against me and show him the light (she's 8 1/2 months now)! She is very well behaved (except in public - she's way overwhelmed with people and just wants to say hi to everyone)! She hasn't really had a teenage phase yet (except for chewing on my brand new christmas shirt ). She loves to play and I'm happy to give her a friend for a few months. Who knows, maybe I'll adopt him if they mesh well together! Her just got neutered today and I will get him on Sunday.

Pics! Btw I have not met him yet so I have no idea how big he is, but I have some bowls, collar, treats, and a leash waiting for him at home!

Beware the dangers of fostering!!! LOL. Having 2 the same age will be a lot of fun, at least they will be able to play and wear each other out, Thats the only lopsided match with Tika and Ripley (though Rip is getting much more playful now), Tika is the energizer bunny.

Thanks everyone!! I'm going to need all of your support to help me get through this. I can get attached to animals very easily! I get too emotional lol. I am so excited.

Heather, I am not sure! One of my friends failed with a foster in Oct. and another one failed yesterday! Eek! We love our huskies too much.

I love Hayao Miyazaki too! I KNEW the name sounded familiar but I couldn't place it! I've only seen Spirited Away 1 time, but I've seen KiKi's Delivery Service countless times! Great movies! I want to watch one when I get home now lol.

He's beautiful. I'd fail so bad as a foster. I'd never be able to part with them, lol. I get attached to animals so easily.

He's so cute! Be strong and really decide if you really want another dog or not. Fostering can be very rewarding. I've been in tears many times after dropping off foster kittens at the vet to get spayed and then off to their new homes. It was even harder with the litter of puppies I recently fostered! You should have seen me when I dropped off our favorite who was the last to go! Sat in my car crying for 15 mins or so. But I'm sooooo happy with where they all went and our favorite, Emma, went to a great home. We really didn't need a third dog, let alone a puppy, so in the end I'm glad we didn't keep her and that she's in a really good home now.

Goodness, thinking about it, we almost always end up with a favorite out of every litter of kittens we foster. If we kept everyone, we'd have over 15 cats by now! lol. We've been good and still only have our original two cats.

Fostering is great! Have fun with it!

^That's pretty much how my mom does her rescue too. She's somewhat teamed up with an official rescue, so she gets access to petfinder and stuff like that (but still decides which dogs she rescues and fosters).

Omg he's too freakin cute! Hopefully they will tire each other out
