So I'm not going fully raw, but replacing kibble with raw every once and a while can only be beneficial to her right? Last night I made shake 'n back chicken. My drumsticks always come in packages of six and I always have one left over. So last night instead of cooking the extra one, I gave it to Karli. She devoured it, no joke. She had a hard time at first figuring how to get the meat off the bone so I helped her with that. Then she decided she was going to drag the bone around and chew on it which my hubby was not impressed with ("you're gonna get chicken bacteria all over the house!!") So I kept taking her bone back out to the kitchen and she decides that she's tired of that and takes it to her kennel with her. So I closed her up for the night. This morning, bone gone. Like, she ate it all. I'm really glad she enjoyed our first try at this. I did take pictures, so I'll upload those when I get home!

Glad to hear that she loved the raw! I've been thinking myself about switching to raw sometime in the future!

I feed our husky beef marrow bones all the time. He loves it, and its a great alternative when I forgot to refill and freeze the Kong...
I tried to change both my little dogs (pekeapoo and Dachshund) over to full raw last month. I kept at it for a few weeks, but one was not taking to it well and both had runny/foul smelling stools the entire time, and then my fridge died and I lost all my frozen meat... So I reverted. I still reward them with raw once in a while.
The Dachshund pup devours an entire chicken leg in under 2 minutes. Bone and all. It is a sight to be seen! Watching him eat bones like a cracker has really changed my view on the tiny hound dogs. I can see now why they were bred to drag badgers out of dens...

But anyway, I haven't found that occasional supplementation of raw has a negative effect. I suppose if your dog had a super sensitive stomach it could induce some digestive distress, but I haven't seen anything like that myself.

It started off in the bowl

But she didn't like it there

And I had to cut slices into it so she would eat it and not lick it

All in all I think it was a good experience and something I don't have a problem with adding every once and a while. Plus, the bones are good for her teeth!!

They can splinter if they are cooked. Raw won't splinter though.

Any bones when cooked can splinter. Never feed your dog cooked bones, or bones that have been exposed to high heat as it alters the bone and makes it weak.

Freya loves her raw, I dont give it to her as much as I'd like.
