PostSubject: Worst thing your dog has done at someone else's house?   Worst thing your dog has done at someone else's house? EmptyTue Dec 25, 2012 1:43 pm

So my dad and I went to my aunt's for Christmas Eve dinner last night. We decided to take Bode with us, and they said it was fine. He was behaving really well for the most part, but then the crap hit the fan.

The first thing was really my fault. He went to the door to say he had to go out (such a good boy!). I took him out on a leash, their property isn't fenced in. It was basically blizzarding at the time and I had not worn water proof boots, so my feet were getting soaked. He peed, so we ran back into the house because I was getting soaked. As soon as we get back in, he poops on the carpet. And it was bad, liquid-ish smelly poop (he's been getting treats from family that he's not used to, sensitive stomach and all that). My aunt wasn't upset, and I did the best I could to clean it up, I still just felt really bad.

Second thing, my Aunt's sister had her Corgi with her. She is normally a pretty sweet dog, but she is definitely an only dog and likes it that way. She was resource guarding her toys, and Bode just wanted to play. She kept growling at him, and he wasn't taking the cues, still being a puppy and not fully understanding. So I was trying to keep them separated and distracted, then my idiot relative decides to throw the ball for the Corgi to chase, and of course Bode wants to play too! So he goes after it, she gets pissy and snaps at him, and he got pretty ferocious back. He took out some of her fur, but no harm was done. I was a little worried because he's never reacted that way to another dog, even little ones. But I understand dogs are dogs and sometimes that kind of stuff will happen. My Aunt's sister on the other hand is in the camp of "Oh my baby can do no wrong." She was yelling at her for growling earlier in the evening, and my dad tried to explain to her that she is just trying to tell Bode to back off, dogs need to establish hierachy. And she goes "But it sounds so mean!" Anyways, she was not so happy I think, so we decided to leave pretty soon after that.

All in all, it wasn't that bad, but I still feel bad, especially since a lot of it was my fault. So what's the worst thing your dog has done at someone else's house?

I wish I could've brought my dogs, but my family had a lot of kids over (my cousins 4 and 3 brother/sister and another cousin thats 2) and I knew the pups would've HATED the kids XD Plus the litter 4 yo is deathly afraid of dogs.. wouldn't have been a good idea. But Yuki probably would've chewed a couple cords, made three messes inside, and torn into some wall while Cloud sat politely next to me. Just my prediction Wink

My old weimaraner waited until he got in my friends house after a walk before he pee'd on her footrest by the couch, then getting startled by her scream he ran around the house leaving a lovely trail of pee.

I always bring a crate if I plan to visit for more than a few hours. But I have a few stories from what were short visits to people's houses.
I used to have a lab that I brought to ex-mother in law's house. He decided that the pool brush (complete with the long handle attached) would make a nifty fetch toy. So there he was running around the patio with about 4 feet of pole sticking out on either side knocking everything over.
I brought another lab I used to have over to a friend's house. She was pretty well behaved, except for this obsession with paper types of products. Friend left her bathroom door open, and Ria decided to bring us unmentionable items from the cabinet under the sink.

Close tie between pooping on the carpet and trying to kill someones cat.

Oh this can be some funny stories here. Steve, while at his breeder parents home, got up on the bed and emptied his bladder on her pillow. It wasn't a marking quick one, it was an all out drain on the pillow. He did this the morning of a trip to a dog show where he wasn't being taken. Luckily I haven't had any issues like that.

So far Lucian has just terrorized my aunt's chocolate lab. He just won't leave her alone despite the warning growls and nips. He wouldn't leave her alone at all. So he was leashed most of the time we were there. He managed to get blood on a few of the toys he was chewing on, from losing his teeth.

Elara (not poor Siku in the photo) decided to destroy my parent's drier vent when they were watching them for a day!

When we were back east last year, staying with my parents, with both pups, Demon had a very difficult time adjusting to the new place. He would NOT poop outside. He left a few large gifts for my parents on their freshly shampooed carpet. Sad

Just got back froma visit to my moms with all three of ours and although she loved all three of them, Kodiak ended up peeing twice on the carpet at the backdoor because I didn't get up fast enough to let him out. Another interesting note, he learned how to open the back door from the outside. It has a lever type handle. Would have been ok except it poured all morning and he kept coming in soaking wet and muddy. I did alot of carpet cleaning before I left.

Oh shit, Sara lol.

I took Juneau to my mom's house (who has 3 wheaten terriers - 1 who constantly pees and poops everywhere) back in August. Juneau we JUST done learning potty training but since she could still smell the poop/pee in the carpet, she would just pee everywhere! She even jumped up on their bed and PEED on their comforter!!! I was shocked. I put the blanket in the wash, lol but they don't even have that blanket anymore because they got new bedding/bed. Thank god. I just felt terrible though.
