So we have a very lazy black lab staying with us for a few weeks while her owner is out of town. They've met before, played at the dog park, and had time to sniff each other out in the backyard. Well, I give both of them the same exact bone, but apparently one is not enough for Ziva. She yips at the lab, lab gets scared, drops her bone, and now Ziva has both...So I give the lab a different toy to chew on...and same result...I think my dog is a bully, lol...she keeps taking the other one's toys (kinda like a child does), plays with it for about 30 seconds, while the lab sulks off to the side...crazy dog...

HAHA..thats my furkids here. They want theirs AND whatever the other ones have. When my diva Cali does stuff like this, I take it away and give her chew to to her but put her in her crate while the other two are out to enjoy their toys. Sophie is the big girl on campus and she dares cali to try something like that with her, but so far she will only take Steve's chew toys from him.

I dont have a husky yet so I'm no expert. I'm still in the research phase before I get my puppy and have talked to a few husky owners. Apparently this is what 5-6 month olds do to try to establish hierarchy in the pack. She is showing the Lab that she is the lead dog! He must not understand Husky language...

Or maybe he does and that is why he lets her have it and sulks. This definitely sounds like she is trying to establish that she is top dog. Even though they have met and played before it has always been on neutral territory. Now the lab is in her house and she is going to behave differently.

I would separate them when giving treats. Your dog in the crate and the lab out or in different rooms. It really probably bothers you more than the dogs.

fortunately there is no biting or anything like that (other than the minor play). her latest thing is licking the inside of the lab's ear....kinda gross lol

I'm not sure if this is accurate but I was told that dogs will lick each other's ears and eyes to clean them. So maybe they're OK with each other now lol.

Milla cleans Hunters ears, he doesn't deign to do hers though lol. They do lick each others mouths though

I had a visit from a friend couple of days ago. He brought his 5 month old Malamute. At first Lycan was really fine with Volkan. So I gave them each a bone to chew. Everything started when Volkan steals Lycan's bone. Lycan had a hard nip, not a bite, on Volkan's paw (the paw that stole his bone). It took us the next 45mins getting them better to each other again. And we promised my friend to babysit Volkan from the 19-26 when he is out of town. Looks like I gotta teach them manners. Even though they are two months apart, Lycan is double Volkan's size. I sure don't want them to be stealing each others food or being food aggressive.

I feed them in their crates...Ziva ate the lab's food the first night when I fed them at the same time. I leave their doors open and it seems to work pretty good this way.

Cleaning each other's ears is perfectly normal, and it is for sanitation. However, it doesn't mean they're BFF's or anything now haha. Kota and Sarabi groom each other likewise, but still have their fair share of fights. It's always been "I want what the other one has, even though mine is exactly the same" for these two so they get their goodies separately.

I sometimes dog sit Freya's BFF, a retriver x spaniel, They play fight, jumping all over each other, chasing each other around the yard etc. I feed them seperatelly, but they do get treats together.

Freya is terrible for trying to steal Shadow's bones and chews. Shadow doesnt get alot of things like that at her home so I try to spoil her a bit while she's with us. Freya gets the nearly every day so knows how to devour them quickly, Shadow on the other hand takes her time savouring them.
If Fre sees that Shadow hasnt finished hers she'll steal it away from her. Sometimes they get into proper fights with this. They only last a few seconds, it's more noise than actual biting, but sounds really scary.

I have noticed though, that Freya is submissive to Shadow, so I dont know if she's just testing the water.
