Kaya's stopped listening....grrrrrr Empty
PostSubject: Kaya's stopped listening....grrrrrr   Kaya's stopped listening....grrrrrr EmptyFri Dec 07, 2012 7:17 pm

We love Kaya a lot and generally she has been a very well behaved dog up till now. However, for the last 10 days she has really, really been trying our patience.

When called to come inside from the backyard, she just looks at us like we're idiots and simply refuses to step over the threshold - just carries on doing her own thing. She even comes to the door like she wants to come in and then as soon as I open it, she shoots off again. If the door is open, she'll just sit there watching us but won't come in.

I tried tempting her with treats etc and that worked for a couple of days, then she decided that it wasn't worth coming back inside the house even for a high value treat. It's driving me bonkers because it was starting to take an hour to get her back in and this does not help when I have to get ready for work or when it's bedtime.

Now we have to take her out on a leash each time so we can ensure that we get back into the house in a reasonable amount of time.

Hopefully this is just a puppy phase although it is incredibly annoying!

Any ideas on how to overcome this?

Sophie started doing this recently too. But she does it because she wants Maya and Kay to run out and play with her. I just leave her out there for a while until she really wants to come in. Doesn't take long for her to get bored and want in. Now she doesn't do it much.

Yeah Anna did this as well when we lived in our townhome. I just shut the door too and eventually you could hear her crying because she wanted to come back in. If she ran away I'd shut the door again and just leave her out there. I'd look out the window of course to check on her but she wouldn't go no where usually just come scratch the door to come in. I guess she thought it was a game.

Karli started doing this this week, I usually let her out to potty on her leash, then let her out to play after bringing her back inside. The biggest issue right now is that chasing leaves is more fun then coming inside. But, if I call her inside and I'm not paying attention to her (i.e. trying to chase her or force her in) she comes right in. Tried not to embarrass my hubby by doing it today but it worked!!!
