So Dragon gets hiccups A LOT like at least once a day and most of the time I've noticed it's after he's eaten or drank water but sometimes it's literally out of the blue for no apparent reason at all. I've never heard of a dog getting hiccups before so when he got them the first time I freaked out until my husband told me what was happening lol. Does anyone else experience this with their huskies? Should I be concerned?

Hmm I think when I first got Yuki she used to hiccup A LOT, never found out the cause. She would just randomly hiccup. It's stopped now though, she hasn't done it probably since she was 12 weeks old.

Saya did so as a puppy as well. Maybe it is a puppy thing like abby and Megan said, mine has not done it since she was a puppy either

Lucian still gets them at 18 weeks old. It's slowing compared to what is used to be. He would get them several times a day. Now it's maybe once a day or less. Kids are the same way. My daughter had them ALL the time when I was pregnant with her.

Now that's gotta be an odd feeling! lol Dakota still gets them occasionally. I wouldn't worry too much unless they persist excessively as he gets older. You can always check with the vet if you're really concerned. |

I read up on this when Stark first got the hiccups. I found that it was actually quite common in pups. They say the pups grow out of it by a year, but older dogs have been known to hiccup. Might just be they swallowed air wrong or something (like us) So don't worry, it's perfectly normal!

I don't really remember the hiccups when Onyx was a pup. Although the other night he was laying next to the xmas tree and he had a bad case of the hiccups. He couldn't see me sitting in the chair so I grabbed his rear paw with a quick motion and scared him straight into a sit. He didn't hiccup the rest of the night. Sorry if it isn't on topic, just thought it would be something funny to share.

Haha thanks for the share. And thanks everyone for all your input on it. Sounds like its pretty common. I wasn't sure if it was something that was common for pups or that Dragon was just doing so all your comments were helpful!

Danzig still gets them too. Right after he eats, but only when he eats all his food. They usually go away after a couple of times.

Well that explains what that was...the first time she did it I thought she was trying to throw up so I rushed her outside. When nothing happened I just figured it was something weird she was doing lol.

When we first got Carolina, she had them a least once a day. To the point where it didn't really phase me anymore. Now she doesn't get them as often, and she only hiccups a handful of times. Oh and she's about 2.

Kale was the hiccup king when he was a pup. He hasn't had them in quite some time lol He actually takes his time enjoying his food instead of scarfing it and swallowing air in the process like he used to do
