Charges have just been laid against the manager of a Whistler sled dog company for the slaughter of dogs in 2010. Details here. You'll be glad to know that there is now a sled dog code of practice in BC.

I never heard about this... That's so sad

I'm not optimistic this scum will get anything more than a slap on the wrist since it took this long to file charges. He would get a year in prison for each life he took if I was the judge.

The courts move very slowly here. It took a long time for charges to be laid against any of the Stanley Cup rioters from last year, and some are still pending apparently. The pace of justice leaves something to be desired.

When you hug your dogs today please remember these beautiful creatures whos lives were cut short by this vile act.

Also all the shelter dogs that die because the human race has let them down.

This story is what got me into Huskies in the first place. And I would never go to a for-pay dog sledding company unless I knew beforehand that the people running it would go out of business before killing or displacing extra dogs to make the bottom line. Disgusting.

How anyone could harm an animal is beyond me. The sad thing is they sleep fine at night because they don't care about what they're doing - No conscience at all, very sad.

I hate when people say "euthanized" that implies a humane painless death, the tortured and slaughtered them... Makes me sick, can help but picture one of those innocent dogs being mine.

Geesh, first time I hear of this, I had to stop the video, could not watch.

Well, he was in court today and he pled guilty. He'll be sentenced in November. More here if you want it.

What scum, let him rot i say.. Such a disgusting act of cruelty, how do you live with yourself and wake up every morning after doing something like that? Just frustrates me that people like that are allowed to even walk the planet.

I would say give him the same punishment that he gave to the dogs but that would be to quick.

No joke, I cried when I read this. It breaks my heart - I would save them all if I could. How could someone do such a thing?

I am glad he plead guilty....I hope they punish him accordingly. Those poor babies!!
