| I just joined and we are having a problem with our senior. About 1 month ago she had a episode of Canine Idiopathic Vestibular Disease. She was eating well before that and after the attack, she didn't eat for 3 days. When she started eating she would only eat wet foods. She would eat Ceasars meals but I didn't like giving it to her so we tried out Blue Wilderness and she liked it. She ate that for 2 weeks and then stopped. We went back to Ceasars and she would only eat that. Now she has stopped eating that too and still won't touch the Blue. She has also stopped eating most treats we give her except for Thinkers and Snausages. She will eat regular meat like Turkey and chicken but thats it.
Has anyone gone thru this before with their senior? What can we do to get her to eat and is their anything we can give her to help make sure she is getting the supplements that she needs? Any help would be appreciated.
Like I said in my introduction, we have already lost 2 dogs this year to cancer, which was very hard on both of us, and are scared to death of loser her too. |

| My 8 year old Dalmatian has throat cancer and I've been giving her Weruva dog food. It's very easy to swallow and doesn't cause upset tummies. I switched her over to it cold turkey from dry kibble and she was perfectly fine. Its made in a human food facility and my girl really enjoys it. |

| Nutri-cal is a great supplement to give to a dog that isn't eating much, its full of calories and nutrition. You could also try a freeze dried food like Sojos or a air dried product like Ziwi-Peak both are extremely palatable for most dogs. |

| I just wanted to point out, if you do go with trying different foods and things a lot of companies will send you free samples to taste test with her. I know that Grandma Lucy's (a really good, dehydrated food) has sample bags of all their different flavors for sale on their website. Like Josh said, dehydrated/free dried foods are usually very palatable to most dogs. Plus, they have more of a smell to them and that sometimes helps to stimulate older dogs to eat. I know that Ava's GL food smells very yummy to both of us and she always gets excited when she smells it instead of kibble. |

| So far she likes eggs, tunafish, peanut butter, and gizzards and hearts. She does not like sardines. Gonna try raw chicken tomorrow , chicken liver, and beef kidney. Stay tuned. |
