| My first post. I wanted to make it special and remember my first pet. A wonderful Siberian Husky named Princess. She was a small sibe, weighed in at 47 pounds. She loved chasing anything small and actually jumped and caught a bird out of the air. We use to have a nice big run for her. Had a cable attached to the house and to a tree about 100 feet out, on that cable was another cable 50 ft long we put her on whenever she wanted to go outside. Unfortunately, that is what made us put her down. A cat ran across her area and she chased after it. She hit the edge of the area and snapped her neck. My dad made the decision to put her down because he didn't want her suffering. I remember my sister calling me and telling me how she died in her arms at the vets office. Every time I think about it, I wish I could have come home to be there, but the military never understood that a pet isn't a pet... it's a family member. Princess was the greatest dog I ever came in contact with. She loved playing ball, talking/howling and she even protected me when another dog attacked me. When I came home on leave a few months later, the three of us took her ashes to the lake (her favorite place to swim and play) and spread them over the water. RIP Princess. You will forever be in my heart and memories! |

| I agree Jennifer. I will never use a run for a dog again. I'm actually rescuing a two year old next week from a shelter in Middle TN. I have a fence guy coming Wednesday to quote me prices for my back yard. Hopefully a 5 foot fence is more then enough. She'll only be outside when she wants to and not while I am gone. |

glad to hear you are rescuing a new girl! are you doing a 5' chain fence? you would be better off with a 6' wood fence. _________________ |

| I would love a 6 ft wood fence but I can't afford it. Not many houses in my neighborhood has a wooden fence. |

| You might want to look into making coyote rollers if you go for a chain link fence. Huskies can actually scale chain link fairly easily, but the coyote rollers keep them from being able to get a good grip at the top. They can be rigged up fairly inexpensively using PVC too. Good luck! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Yeah, I saw the Coyote rollers. I was just trying to describe them to my dad. His husky is big! Like 93 pounds? |
