OK. We are new husky owners. My 20 year old bought one from a reputable breeder after reading immensely about them. Anya is a beautiful girl, but I am struggling with her. The breeder said she was definitely the alpha dog of her pack. She growls and snarls and snaps at us when we try to redirect her away from things she shouldn't chew, when she is picked up to move somewhere, and when she doesn't want to do what you want her to. We have tried a lot of different things, especially praising and redirecting with appropriate things. She responds VERY well to my husband and my son, but not to me. I must admit that I am afraid of her when she does it. She is VERY aggresive and threatening. From what I have read, stubborness is a trait, but her aggressiveness is not necessarily common for the breed. My question is... Should I just not be the one to try and correct her at all and let my son and husband take that responsibility until she is better trained? Or will, she always be this way with me. Please help.

if you are afraid of her then she will know it and she will see you as beneath her in the pack hirearchy. You need to correct that before she will do anything you say. I would suggest you start taking over all feeding of her. and i would say hand feed her. She will learn very quickly that you control the food and if she wants some she has to respect you. I don't think she is trying to be aggresive i think she is trying to show her dominance over you. If she growls at you put her in a time out in the bathroom or another room. When she is calm let her out. Show her through body language and demenor that you will brook no argument you are in charge. Use the same skills and tone you use with your son when he's in trouble lol I hope this helps

You might also want to consider YOU taking her to obedience classes... not just to train her but also to help build your own confidence with her.
