Last night, Carolina threw up out of the blue. it was white and foamy and a decent sized puddle (she then proceeded to lick it back up ). I was bot concerned, but every now and then, she vomits a little. I kept my eye in her, but she seemed to be acting like her normal self. This morning, she woke me up before my alarm went off to go outside and her stool was practically liquid not to mention she had an accident sometime last night and it looks like it started solid, but became runny.

My worry is she ate about 3/4 of a stick of butter on monday when we weren't pay attention to her. I watched her carefully and she didn't show any signs of it effecting her. Could she be reacting to it now?

Her food hasn't changed (We feed her Blue Buffalo Wilderness, 2 cups a day).

I would guess its the butter. If I ate that much butter I'm sure I'd vomit and have diarrhea too haha. I'd call your vet and see what they say

Called the vet's office and we're putting her on a fast for 24 hours then bland diet for a few days.

I don't think it could be the butter. If she ate the butter on Monday then it should be long gone from her system by Thursday night/Friday.

Keep her hydrated, you may even want to give her some Pedialyte or a similar generic while she's fasting. Hope she shows some improvement soon. Please keep us updated.

Are you sure the pup didn't eat something else? It happens...Siberians are known for getting into things.

Nothing that I can recall. The only thing different this week (besides the butter) was my husband picked her up a new bone from the butcher's on wednesday. We were told she was a counter surfer and try to be really careful about what she can reach.

What kind of bone?

I believe it was a beef bone. Not sure if it was from another company or if it was in house.

If it had a lot of meat and fat, it could have caused the issues. If her tummy isn't used to it.

It's possible. She got it wednesday during the day and it looked pretty picked clean when I got home.

Whatever it is, I hope is passes soon. Poor Girl

Yup, that would make more sense. 24 hour fast complete, now for a bland diet.

Update:

So far so good. Gave her a breakfast of boiled chicken and scrambled eggs and gave her some pumpkin afterward. While she's not allergic to grain, we've had her on a grain free diet since we got her, so i didn't want to make things worse by throwing rice into the mix. I've taken her for a walk and she's gone pee twice already, but no diarrhea or throwing up her breakfast.

So, it looks we may be having the opposite problem now. It's been 26 hours since had her first meal after the fast and so far, no bowel movements. Though she has been a bit gassy. I know every dog is different, but should I be worried about constipation?

Try giving a tablespoon or two of pure canned pumpkin. That will help loosen things up a bit and pumpkin is really good for them.

Still nothing. I gave her two tablespoons of pumpkin with her dinner around 5pm and still nothing. She's not showing any signs of pain, I can press on her belly and she doesn't flinch.

Wow, I just read this and although it wasn't my post it helped me understand what was wrong with my puppy who was having the exact same symptoms a week ago.

What he ate? An order of onion rings he got from the trash , well amongst other things (including some fishy salmon and even shadier steak, it was fridge clean-up day) . However with these exact same symptoms the only thing they ate in common was onions.

Izzy- Glad we could help you out as well. As Megan said, Siberians get into EVERYTHING and can be sneaky about it.

Also, Carolina went poo this morning and it was solid! I've never been so excited to pick up after her.

Onions can be very toxic. We don;t even allow them in my house - Yeah, I'm neurotic. The only ones I have are freeze dried minced that stay in the refrigerator unless I am cooking. I read all labels and never give the dogs anything with onion in it - Even a little could set a dog off if they are sensitive. I may seem crazy, but I would rather avoid poisoning.

Induce vomitting if it happens again with a spoon of tablesalt or a Tbsp. of Hydrogen Peroxide.

Just read through, glad everyones pups are doing great! Luka had the runs the other day, I couldn't work out why & now I just realised that he got into some food the day before which had bits of onion in it... didn't realise they could be that sensitive to onion! Silly pups!
